l had the Hamburger Steak with Onions and Mushrooms. It was so spectacular! I opted for the salad and mashed potatoes for the sides, and the salad was very, very fresh. Just great quality food, which is a rare thing in truck stops. It's definitely a premium spot for a home cooked meal.

Don’t let this small diner inside a convenience store (Sapp Bros) prevent you from trying out the food. I asked the waitress for her favorite dish. She recommended the chicken fried steak dinner & it was delicious. The chicken fried steak was hand breaded, huge, tender & tasty covered in white gravy with a side of mashed potatoes, green beans, & remarkably perfect Texas toast. My wife ordered the chicken tenders dinner with french fries and BBQ baked beans and there was plenty to split with our granddaughter. The tenders were tender & fries were crispy along with the remarkable Texas toast. The only negative is that wait staff were very busy and not able to stop off and check in for drink refreshes or dessert orders. She was very friendly & got the food out fast once ordered (thank you). Overall, a great meal for a fair price.
Original post on Sapp Bros reviews, thought I’d put down my food specifically here. Got the BBQBano with Cajun fries. Not the biggest sandwich but for the price and the quality of the meat it is absolutely delicious and worth the try. Staff was super friendly, does take a little bit of a wait though. Overall am happy with the food and service, will be back for sure. Thank you
The food was good but not great. The house made chips were tasty. One person seemed to be handling all the front of house duties. It is inside a Sapp Brothers truck stop so the atmosphere was consistent with the setting. Our server was friendly but clearly overwhelmed.
Place was dead when I walked in. I placed my order, got my drink and salad pretty quickly, so I figured the rest would come out fairly quickly.
I ordered medium steak and eggs over easy.
I started a 50 minute show to kill time while I waited in a restaurant that had less than 5 people sitting at the tables.
25 minutes later, my food shows up, overcooked and cold. I said nothing and just ate. I was not about to wait another 25 minutes for another cold plate of overcooked food.
The waitress was rarely seen in the dining area to the point, one of the tables got up and refilled his drink himself. I looked at my empty cup and wondered where the server, Baylee was at.
Bad service yields crap tips. I would've been more understanding had it just been her and a crowded restaurant but it was dead, so this is inexcusable.
I've been a server and know the world of a server. Disappearing on your tables is not acceptable nor is serving them cold food that should be hot.
We decided to try the Apple Barn on the way to YaYa's Alpaca Farm. It's inside of a gas station. Pleasantly surprised. One waiter but he did a fabulous job. Everyone loved their meal. I had breakfast. The omelette hash browns and pancakes were delicious. My wife loved her chicken sandwich. My daughter said the pecan bacon was to die for. The BBQ Cubano was really good I was told. Loved all the nick nacks in the convenance station. Bathrooms were unique. Definitely will come back.
My wife and went to Apple Barrel for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised! I got the chicken fried steak and my wife ordered chicken tenders. The food and portions were great! We will definitely be back!
