I've been here twice now on a Saturday afternoon around 3pm and it's been a pretty long wait to be seated both times. There are two lines, one for the bakery only and one for the restaurant so just make sure you're in the right one.
There's indoor and outdoor seating. It was pretty chilly today, but they had outdoor heaters which did a decent job. It was an hour wait for an inside table.
The service once we were seated was pretty quick. We ordered and got our food in less than 10 minutes probably. My husband wanted the pot pie but unfortunately it was already sold out so he got fried chicken instead. The pieces were pretty small, but the flavor was good. I got chili and cornbread which was good. We also got a side of fries.
My +1 and I make a point to stop by this place whenever we can make it during apple season.
To be honest, we remember the place before the overhaul, and initially didn’t care for the overhaul of the whole Oak Tree Village, but we’ve since come to appreciate it.
It’s important to know that the place is a combination of bakery and restaurant, with separate entrances for each. The lines to get into each one can be confusing because the restaurant line usually ends around or overlaps into the bakery line.
As for the line, it usually moves relatively quickly. Usually. We had a couple of groups with 10-13 people in them ahead of us, which gummed things up. Especially for a Saturday evening. Not their fault, though. The staff was able to accommodate and keep things moving.
We got seated outside (which we preferred) and already knew what we wanted. My +1 got the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw, which was full of flavor. I ordered the mountain burger, and was able to order it with an extra patty (for an extra 5.99) and it was pricey, but was pretty hearty and it hit the spot. We also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich for my little and it came with seasoned fries (like the rest of the food) so we had plenty to eat. They also have an assortment of drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, including apple wines and hard ciders, to wash your meal down with.
Of course we couldn’t forget dessert. We all shared a big slice of fresh apple pie, and it was pretty amazing. They topped it generously with vanilla ice cream, and it was enough for the 3 of us.
Service was fine, and the food really hit the spot after a day of hiking and apple picking. Yeah it’s a bit pricey, but it’s to be expected in Oak Glen. The place lost a little of its country rustic charm (think Cracker Barrel) since the renovations that turned it more cookie-cutter Instagram industrial, but the food improved and so did the service.
We’ll be back next season, if not sooner!
Chicken Pot Pie, Fries and Apple Pie a la mode. The food was really good. The atmosphere was also spot on. The service was solid. You will need to wait on the weekends in line but it is worth it. Would recommend.
We were with a large group at the famous Apple Annie's. We ordered a variety of home-style cooked dishes. Everything was mostly good but I was a little disappointed with the pot pie. It just didn't seem to have the right pot pie flavor I was used to. I hear others like it a lot, though. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive to our large group, and the atmosphere was just perfect for what you'd expect at a home-cooking country restaurant.
Bit of a wait to get seated, but well worth it! Had a group of 5 people, and we all got different plates. I got the beef dip with au jus and a side of fries. The others got the chicken pot pie, fish n chips, cheese burger, and the chicken dinner that came with a variety of pieces (thighs, wings, legs). When the chicken pot pie came out, I was having second thoughts about my beef dip because of how good the pot pie looked and smelled. Nonetheless, my beef dip was delicious, and the au jus enhanced an already flavorful sandwich. I forgot to get a slice of apple pie, so I will be back for it!
Pretty good place for apple baked goods. The pie with ice cream in particular was delicious. We came for lunch and the menu was pretty small and not particularly special, but the atmosphere is nice.
Hostess was a little moody and was not very helpful with an issue we had when we first arrived.
The waitresses were awesome and the food was good. They were fast with the meals and drinks! All in all.... wonderful experience! ????????????
if you like big portions and fair prices this is the place! LOVED THE FRIED BRUSSELS SPROUTS! LOVED THE COFFEE! we did not like the veggie soup , tried the chili beans, sweet potatoes tots, grilled pork, grilled cheese sandwich, And disappointed on the sour bread, no good. Loved the place, area and will definitely come back to try the breakfast!
