Quaint little restaurant located on San Antonio’s far west side just inside loop 4-10 at Marbach. Looks like a Mexican hacienda inside with a relaxing atmosphere. Food is homemade and delicious. Table service is quick and efficient. Lunch and breakfast specials are offered Monday through Friday. I had the “Gringo” breakfast plate which consisted of two homemade pancakes, scrambled eggs or as you like and three slices of bacon. The condiments were pancake syrup and REAL butter single serve packets. The pancakes were delicious. Also ordered were the huevos rancheros breakfast plate consisting of scrambled eggs or as ordered, very tasty beans and home cut breakfast potatoes, they get a plus for hand cut, fried potatoes which were very good. Definitely worth a second and third trip and more.

Man, I had no idea this place was open for sit-down dining. The atmosphere is great, and all the pottery, parrots, and decorations are awesome. Now, for the food, I had the enchiladas with a crispy taco. All I can say is excellent! The cheese is the melty kind that oozes out and mixes with the rice and beans to make them that more amazing. The flavors were great, and we even had a small bowl of chonchitas, which really one uped any Mexican restaurant out there. The service was awesome, tea refilled, checked on many times. I had an amazing time here. Check them out for yourself and as always my 2 cents.
Saturday traffic at the 2 o'clock hour on a Saturday normally finds a restaurant as a vibrant hive of buzzing diners. Not the case today.
Apetitos suffered through a fire and then the Iron COVID curtain which made it possible for them to offer only curbside service for many months. Unbeknownst to me until yesterday, they fInally returned to dining room service once again.
With our visit today I would opine that those restaurant qualities important to us diners have made it through the fire and the worrisome Wuhan wackiness; no chili gravy here, but the guisada gravy serves the purpose on the beef and cheese enchiladas, the puffies have plenty of psi to inflate your taste buds in corn masa pillow appreciation, slow start to service that graduated to alert attendance, and a good variety of breakfast and lunch plates.
A bright, clean interior with a festive feel with good tex-mex and willing service . . . you would do well to bring your appetite to Apetitos mexican restaurant. Just don't forget, like most mom & pop eateries they close at 3.
The service was excellent! Everyone was very nice! The atmosphere was also nice. The food was good as well, I recommend the enchilada plate!
Hands down best mexican restaurant in San Antonio,you're going to pay a little more but it's well worth it.Stand alone restaurant blows all those nasty jallisco's outa the water.
For making a long journey to this place this place wasn't bad the caldo de res was really good and tasteful and the pork chops were delicious. We will be back soon.
Ordered take out and so disappointed.. they dont tell you that theres only one size of menudo to go which is $16.99!! Not worth it btw…. And the nachos that are listed for $5.49 are actually 8.99!! And it was said its because they give guacamole and sour cream… im putting pictures up because they are deceiving you with the sides… they arent filled even half way.. other reviews say they over charge you and i should have listened. Very disappointed. Will not be trying again. Stay away and save your money!
