My daughter was in a minor car accident (rear-ended), but ended up going in because she was nauseous, dizzy and sore in her back, hip, and right wrist. 30 x-rays later, and they x-rayed the opposite wrist and tried to discharge her before the second set of x-rays were even read. They said she had concussion symptoms, but the doctor left before we could get clarification. This hospital is awful and I regret having the ambulance take her there, should have gone to cooperstown.
A few years back, I went because I pulled my back out with a history of herniated disks. They took x-rays then discharged me telling me I didn't have pneumonia. None of those x-rays were of my lower back unless it was happenstance. I left and went to cooperstown. I herniated 2 vertebrae
The nurses in the ER were downright rude. This has not been our experience with the other hospitals in the Bassett network. It’s just an AO Fox problem. Based on our experience today, I would rather bleed out then go to this emergency room again.
No waiting. My husband was taken right in and testing started immediately. All staff were very pleasant and informative. The Doctor clearly explained what would be happening next and when.
I recently took my elderly mom to Fox Hospital in Oneonta, NY after she fell and injured herself. The experience was nothing short of appalling. The emergency room nurse blatantly dismissed our concerns, stating there was nothing they could do. To add insult to injury, the nurse called me an idiot for bringing my mom to the hospital because she fell and was in pain. She had obvious redness and swelling in one of her legs from the fall. My mom simply wanted a doctor's evaluation—a reasonable request given her age and condition.
As a former New York State Firefighter and Paramedic with over 22 years of experience, I have never encountered such blatant incompetence. The lack of professionalism and basic empathy shown by the staff is totally unacceptable. I strongly advise others to seek medical attention elsewhere.
This hospital is the worst your intake nurses and doctor are to busy looking up ancestry dna. The nurses act like there miserable give you an attitude when you tell them what’s wrong and are sitting there talking about patients here. Your doctors like to judge ppl because of how they look sorry I’m covered in tattoos that doesn’t mean I a drug addicted. I came in tonight to get my knee looked at because it keeps giving out and the doctor tells me there’s nothing to do and refused to look at it. I also asked them to check my blood and right pinkie because I had surgery on it and I have a plate and 3 screws in it and because the plate and screws are still in there the doctors told me to go get it checked out once a yr I do that for them to completely ignore it and just discharge me. This place is horrible and sucks this is the only place to go to close around here this is why I’m always hesitant to come here.
Was treated horribly multiple times. The worst was when i was there for psych. My LEGAL GUARDIAN called to try to get information on me and was denied as well as my boyfriend who was lied to about my well being both have releases signed for them not to mention I never got my meds. I was fed 2 bananas in 24 hours because my dinner was put under my bed when I was asleep and I wasn't informed. I got laughed at by the staff while I was crying and still released even though I was suicidal. Not to mention the horrible level of medical care
Took 3 hours to have my blood checked. Went in with stomach pains from diverticulitis and severe knee and leg pain from a fall. No xrays no cats cans just sitting in hallway for 3 hours being ignored. Then sent home in the same pain I went there with...HORRIBLE...Thought hospitals were supposed to help you...
Go ANYWHERE else. Once admitted they treated my parent and our family like we were all ignorant for 2 WEEKS. The nurses were instigating a sick and dying elderly person and talking in front of her to others as if she was deaf and didn’t exist. She was gasping for air right in front of the nurses station and was ignored. We asked for help and told “we don’t tolerate aggression.”
Apparently they can’t tolerate communication, providing medical care or anything other than writing up patients as if they are causing the problems! We saw this happening with other families too. We see some outside and they told us how upset they are that there family members don’t get care either. They want to give everyone tons of medicine and take their blood pressure and that’s about it. They want your money/insurance and they write up as if they’re providing constant care but really they either ignore or badger patients unnecessarily.
When asking why doctors are not available to speak was told if you don’t like the lack of care here- discharge her yourselves and take her somewhere else “everywhere is just as bad”!
I’m sure that’s true if they’re all employing traveling nurses and doctors who simply don’t care.
If you’re looking for medical care go somewhere else. If it is an elderly person expect them to be treated as if they are already dead. They discharge them before they are recovered claiming they need the beds. But the place was empty the entire time with only about 30 patients and 5 nurses on the floor. In the end- seems like the fault of doctors who ignore patients and families all day and tell the nurses to do the same.
She was far worse after being there than when she went in. They are just trying to fill the attached nursing home which also has an incredibly bad reputation and complaint list with the state.
Keep your family safely away from this death trap and warn others! If you advocate for a patient once they are there. They just call security and say you’re causing a problem!
