Best WLM Reviews
The manager, Corey, is a disciplined family man and very friendly and takes excellent care of this facility. I have never had a problem that he was unwilling to fix or help me through. He even takes the time to give me fitness and diet advise. He's seriously one of the nicest guys I've ever met. (Keeping in mind that he is still responsible for the wellbeing of the club and it's members, maybe some people have to see his stern side when they don't follow rules, but I'm not here to establish my dominance, I'm just here to workout, lol) Safety and sanitation are a top priority here. He makes sure everybody inside of the facility is a paying member and have their own private access (key fob or phone). The bathrooms smell so good and the hand soap changes daily sometimes! Bath and body works foam soap! It is true that this gym better serves people who thrive in a predictable and clean environment. Some people prefer to use dirty equipment and have loud conversations in small confined spaces where other people are present. If you are one of those people, this gym is not for you. If you are a bully or can't handle criticism, this gym is not for you. If you make the rules where you go, this gym is not for you. BUT!! If you are a clean and respectful individual who values structure and cleanliness and respect, this gym is DEFINITELY for you! I did want to mention that I have been to several anytime fitness locations and I have incredibly high standards for the level of integrity offered to patrons (excellent customer service, personal accountability, genuine care and concern, etc.) Once I found this gym, I knew it was the one for me.
It always bothers me when I come across an AF location like this one.
Anytime Fitness wants to advertise themselves to travelers and sell their access to every location, but then they allow managers and owners, like this one, to impose ridiculous restrictions that allow clubs to restrict memberships for merely *gasp* using the bathroom facilities they paid for without working out.
There are so many reasons why someone might go to the gym and wind up deciding not to work out, and this location basically threatens and coerces you to exercise when you might not physically be able to do so. It sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen.
"I realized I was still too sore from my last workout and couldn't exercise today, but the signs stated that my membership would be revoked if I didn't exercise, and so I pushed myself and injured myself in the process."
I don't know when AF is going to wake up and realize how utterly stupid and anti-member these policies are. What's the justification, that this location has limited facilities to begin with? There's nothing about being coerced into exercising that means I occupy the bathroom for less time. It probably only prolongs it because I'll be in the facility longer.
Beyond this absolute nonsense, there are Karen-esque signs absolutely everywhere. Totally overbearing and ridiculous location.
Glad to see that it already has a ton of 1 star reviews.
I really wish corporate would step in and do something about locations like this. This isn't what I had in mind when I signed up.
Let's talk about bodily autonomy and consent. Every time a person goes to the gym and exercises, they are putting themselves in a position where they might hurt themselves. You don't know anything about your members. You don't know anything about their handicaps, their injury history, how they're feeling at a particular time, nothing. People have bodily autonomy and should be free to subject their bodies to exercise when they see fit, not coerced into it by some shortsighted management that obviously is divorced from the very industry they're in.
It's honestly disgusting that you think it's even remotely OK to impose yourself on other people's bodies in this way. Shame.
Manager/owner not very friendly and very uptight. It's as if he's looking for reasons to kick people out. Maybe very OCD not sure. This anytime fitness is a vibe very different from the other anytime fitness locations I have experienced. I do not recommend and will not be back to this location
I've been a member here for over 10 years. The gym is always clean and tidy. The members here look out for each other and some have become friends. Corey does hold people to the standards that he's set for the location, but it's all reasonable requests when you consider that we all want to come here and feel comfortable in this location.
The poor reviews make people avoid coming here which is great because it’s never busy during after work peak hours wish they had better equipment for pulldown machine unlike all the other anytime fitness there no private room for classes like all other locations this location is definitely a bit high for 50$ a month but gets the job done. Recommend branching around other anytime fitnesses near the area to find your best fit
I don't like leaving bad reviews but this one is warranted. I signed up for a membership with my girlfriend at the time with the manager Corey. He showed me different pricing options based on the duration of the membership and I told him I would like to sign up for a 6 month membership since I was moving in September and the price was good. Halfway through the membership my girlfriend and I split up and I informed him that she would not be coming to the gym anymore. He told me I would have to let him know if I was renewing or not since I would not be let into the gym if I came outside of staffed hours. Jump to today and I have been getting charged not only for my membership, by exes as well. Corey has since informed me through text message that it was in the fine print that it would be on auto renewal when we signed up. I'm happy to post the screen shot of my asking if it was in the fine print and him saying "yep" in response. It makes sense that he talks extremely fast and shows you 100 things about the gym all at once during the contract process so that you're overwhelmed and don't look closely at the auto renewal section while he tells you something different. I was a membership at this gym a few years ago with a different manager who never pulled anything like this. I loved this gym and was very faithful to Anytime Fitness, but I will never step foot in one again. I'm so sick of managers and shady business practices so I had to leave this review.
As a small business owner I do not like to leave negative google reviews, however I believe this Anytime fitness owner / location has earned this review. The owner Corey does not support the growth of other local non industry competitive small businesses. I own a supplement store and do not offer personal training. However my staff and I are all certified trainers and certified in sports nutrition. As I left this location I noticed other business carbs set up where you put your bags. One card was the owners promoting his real estate business (I did not know that was the owner) and another was for a gentleman promoting his auto detailing. So I left a few of my cards neatly. I received a phone call the next business day from Corey the owner explaining that his gym is a no solicitation business. When I mentioned the other cards he said well that the other gentleman has been a long time member. So apparently unless you pay him enough money over the years you can’t promote there. As a business owner I respect the right of other businesses to operate as they please. Personally I embrace community. Corey asked if I would appreciate another business leaving their material in my store without my permission and I explained that I have a community board in my store right next to my door for any business to promote as they please. He then mentioned to me that months ago he watched me on the camera personally hand my cards to a couple working out as I finished my cardio and was leaving. So apparently you cannot talk to other members either about a business that may help them. I use two other local Anytime fitness gyms. One in DuPont and another in Lacey. They both allow me to promote my business and they even sell supplements themselves. It’s sad that a local business owner took such issue that he went out of his way to call and attempt to talk down to me for leaving business cards that simple could have been thrown away.
Now to further my complaint of this facility. You are greeted by 3 hastily made signs at the door beginning their list of regulations. Throughout the gym there is a sign roughly every 5-6 feet of their specific rules that aren’t advised at any other Anytime fitness. When you walk in the door you’re punched in the nose by the harsh smell of chemicals. Your nose feels sterile within a minute of walking in there and I actually get a headache just from the smell. However the men’s bathroom is clean and actually smells good.
The equipment is severely outdated and anatomically incorrect. However they do have a couple pieces of modern cardio equipment.
I live roughly 2 minutes from this facility and it’s sad that I have to drive 20 minutes to DuPont to utilize an Anytime Fitness with a welcoming and refreshing environment to workout. As I read through these reviews it’s sad to see a business owner have so many negative reviews about his antics and controlling behavior. For the good of the community I hope he does better.
This is hands down THE best AF in the area. The equipment and the club are so well maintained and they have two Peloton bikes and an Octane machine. I haven’t been able to find these premium machines in any other AF clubs. It’s obvious the owner invests in his club and his members. Other reviewers give low ratings because the owner has rules and standards for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and working order of the equipment. Are you kidding? I actually appreciate that the owner wants his members to have access to quality, well maintained equipment, and that he wants his members to have a positive experience when working out (such as not having to listen to people yacking on their phones). I’ve been there several times now and I’ve never known the owner to be anything but friendly. If this club wasn’t so far away I’d make this my home club in an instant.
