Best WLM Reviews

I had lunch there yesterday. It's such a cute
place.
I sat on the bar side where they have high tables, an expansive bar, and a few tvs.
Raul was the bartender and server. He was helpful in my decision to try their coleslaw with my house burger.
Both items were awesome. I usually don't get coleslaw from many places as I like it a little sweet. However, theirs was really good.
My burger had bacon, onions, and a tasty sauce of some sort. It looks small, but it's stacked high and filling.
I ordered an apple crisp for dessert. The topping of oats was good, and so was the ice cream. They apples were a little watery.
Great place for lunch. They played 70s music, which is always nice to hear in a restaurant.
Loved the cook on my steak, mashed potatoes were great but some of the other sides were a miss like the carrots and the Mac n cheese so I’d skip those if I were you. They had a good selection of desserts but it was overly sweet. Great service especially for a large group. Definitely on the pricey side.
A hidden gem! The food here was absolutely fantastic, and the classic interior made for a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service was also impeccable. I can’t wait to come back and try more dishes!
I gotta say, I loved this place and my experience here. But it's a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the steaks.
Before leaving Kansas City, I really wanted to get a Kansas City Strip in Kansas City. And hearing that this is a place that prides itself on having grass-fed steaks is something that I really wanted to love.
Firstly, going through the pub/butcher and up to the fine dining room is so cool. It definitely feels like you can take a load off and have a drink, and then go and meet your date up top. I loved the ambiance in the dining room and even more so when I got to drink my cup of coffee outside to take in the cold air.
The tartare was fantastic and flavorful, and the garnishes did not take away from that full beefy impact. The cocktails were also delicious, and I had to have a couple. But the steak was a bit underwhelming, but not because it wasn't cooked properly... in fact it was a perfect medium rare. But the steak itself was very chewy and sinewy. And while delicious, it was not what I was anticipating for that cut of beef.
The service was perfect, and my server that night was excellent. Even reserved the last grass-fed steak for me, and gave recommendations on all her favorite things which I got. Sadly, a lot of her favorite treats were 86'd for the evening, but it encouraged me that the food here is THAT good.
While the service and preparation were perfect, I can't help but be brought down by that single delicious steak and what could have been. I'm sure if I came back, and got another steak I would have reviewed this place a full 5 stars. But, it was just an unlucky night.
I'm sure the next time I come here, I'm going to review it higher... because it deserves it. But I can't anticipate a higher review, I can only review what I experienced.
Pro Tip: Ask to have your coffee and dessert on the balcony, it is so pretty too see the lights and grass while looking out at the city.

Unfortunately sub par evening at Anton’s starting from the very beginning. Hostess was rude, no hello or anything just “last name?” And then she led us upstairs and sat us at a table in the middle of the room even though we were the only ones up there. Couple brought up right after us at got a corner booth/table. Hostess also did not inform the waitress of special instructions included in the reservation. What’s the point of having a special instructions section while reserving (and putting a card down for $20) if you’re not going to relay the information!
Fortunately, our server was great. Very casual interaction and she was knowledgeable. She did have to tell us three separate times that they were out of certain things on their menu after we attempted to order them though.
1. 100 proof old fashioned is 100 proof sugar, way too sweet.
2. Blackberry bramble was fantastic.
3. Meatballs solid
4. Trout is a fun appetizer, wish they would include more crackers…also served basically frozen so definitely bit through some crystals
5. Boneless ribeye was excellent and perfectly cooked.
6. Brussels sprouts were simultaneously mushy and chewy-skip them
7. Latkes were great, crisp outside soft inside, excellent flavor
8. Mac and cheese was served lukewarm and not nearly enough sauce. Felt more like buttered noodles than Mac and cheese
9. Not pictured but carrot cake for desert was delicious, a little sweet but very good.
Overall, the steak saved the day, but in reality if our server didn’t have such a Good attitude this would have been a dreadful experience.
My wife and I like to go to a classy Steak house when traveling, and forget about how much it cost. We were going to go to the 801 chop house, when I mentioned that to a local he said “Oh that’s a chain. You should go to Anton’s. They’re much better.”
So we did. When we walked in we were surprised to see that it looked more like a neighborhood tavern than a classy steak house, but I saw they had a butcher attached, and the local had recommended it, so we were seated.
Our waiter never introduced himself, didn’t tell us about any specials, when asked was very blasé and did not describe or share the specials. Told us we should order the fillet. My wife ordered a wedge salad, which was not a wedge salad, but a Romaine lettuce salad. The fillet ordered was supposed to be medium rare and it was served rare. The meat was stringy and not really edible, so my wife didn’t finish it.
My steak tip poivre was ok, but the potatoes were crinkle cuts like you get from McCains, with no seasoning. Our $35 lunch af Jack Stacks was much better, had better fries and had way better service.
It was a pretty disappointing meal for $180.
We visited for the first time this weekend. The food and service were extremely lacking. The KC strip and the ribeye were so tough and rubbery! When I tried cutting into the steak in front of our waitress, the knife would barely cut through because it was so tough. Her words verbatim “Yeah that doesn’t look right”. The sauce of the mac n cheese was so thin and watery, that it was like cheese soup with some noodles thrown in. Also, if you’re paying $50+ per steak, your martini should not be served in a stemless wine glass. Save your money and go to Texas Roadhouse for a better experience.
I used to rave about this place, but the experience I had tonight was absolutely abysmal. Not only has the quality of the food plummeted to levels on par with your local greasy diner, the staff on hand was either incompetent or apparently on strike. I understand that this is the week of Xmas, but if that's the kind of service on offer, either close or offer steep discounts.
Not only did we have to wait 20 minutes to even get water, by the third time that the check was brought to us incorrectly I had to ask for a pen to write down what had been ordered. I found out when we got home that there were several items that had been paid for multiple times that weren't noticed.
I brought clients here tonight in a party of 4 to show them a good time and have been so thoroughly humiliated that I can confidently say I will never go back.
