Best WLM Reviews
Located on Stone St. near Broad St. in the Financial District, lower Manhattan adjacent to the Doubletree hotel. We went here for my birthday dinner (no reservations required). It was convenient as its entrance was within our hotel so we had to try it.
The restaurant is small but has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with a wine bar.
I had their 'Fettuccine alla Sorrentino' and my husband had their 'Carbonara'. For dessert, we had a 'Sorbet' and 'Cannoli'. Food tasted fresh and was really good. However, I felt all was a bit overpriced for what it was. We had wine and were asked if we wanted 'still' or 'sparkling' water, so we opted for 'still'. To my surprise, they added a $9 cost to my bill for the water (that I didn't ask for). I had never been charged for water no matter how boujee the restaurant is. Another thing I did not like was the forced, automatic 20% tip on our bill for a party of 2, especially because I don't know how to feel about the service. It felt a bit awkward with the man who served us. Had no personality and seemed offended with our menu questions, as if we're supposed to know.
Overall, we did enjoy the food but will not return during our stay based on this experience.
I will be going back the next time I am in NYC. The Carbonara was amazing! The cream, the crispy bacon, and the al dente noodles were excellent.
What a cozy spot! Hard to find this kind of food nowadays. I had the Veal Chop Parmigiano and my husband had Lobster with Suffron Risotto and we loved it all. Service was great. Hidden gem in Stone Street! Will be back.
While the menu prices at Antica initially seemed reasonable, the final bill was shockingly high due to a multitude of added fees. A 20% surcharge was applied for our group of over five, which felt excessive. In addition to the expected sales tax, we were surprised by additional city and federal taxes, which significantly inflated the cost. An 18% mandatory gratuity was also included, which felt presumptuous given the subpar service we received.
Unfortunately, the service did not meet the standards set by the inflated prices. Our waiter from one of the ex-Yugoslavian countries was unprofessional, using inappropriate language in a foreign language (which we understood) while interacting with our table. This behavior, combined with the excessive fees, left us feeling dissatisfied and taken advantage of.
While the food itself was decent, the overall experience was marred by the hidden costs and poor service. I would not recommend this restaurant unless other options are unavailable.
I haven’t been back in NYC since last November but the last time I dined there it was at Antica on Stone street. Last night before a function, I took my sister in law to dinner there and once again, I was not only not disappointed but even more impressed!!
They opened the door for us and led us to our table. Fresh warm bread and delis creamy butter were immediately brought over while the staff took our drink order and told us the specials. Our dinners were amazing and it was nice to dine rather than eat as we took our time.
I hope to be back once again this year with family to enjoy another great experience.
Servers were kind but the wine was flat and I tried 2 different kinds, the porterhouse cooked medium was awful, tasted like bad jersey. The bread was okay. The potatoes seemed to cooked with no seasoning. TBH it seemed like the food was made by a new chef, who should be learning at Dennys. thankfully the server cut our almost $200 bill in half
The location in lower Manhattan is a good restaurant with good prices. I ordered the carbonara and my wife a vongole. My pasta was good. It was cooked al dente and the sauce with green peas and bacon was good. Her pasta was the laziest pasta ever cooked. Just olive oil, garlic and clams with some parsley nothing special. If they add some baby clams and some clam juice with the pasta maybe it will be reasonable to pay for the vongole. Service was amazing and atmosphere was on top
Just go here! Delicious and authentic Italian cooking, amazing serviceI and atmosphere. A memorable experience that you’ll want to repeat! Stephano was incredible and took the time to make us feel appreciated. Highly recommended!
