Best WLM Reviews

11/2/24 - short version: wide selection of menu items, seasonal offerings, huge patio (saw misters but no heaters), ample parking, great service, casual dining atmosphere. Definitely worth a return visit.
Longer version: popped in this particular Saturday morning craving a delicious breakfast. We were not disappointed. Since the weather was gorgeous, we opted to sit on the patio. That early it was still in the shade which means it was a bit chilly, but I did not see any heaters out there. It's a pretty large patio and my only complaint was the cold metal chairs. Yes, your butt will warm it up quickly but that did not make the non-cushioned seats any more comfortable. Next time we'll sit inside, hopefully it will be more comfortable.
Our server, Carley, was all smiles, very polite the entire time, and returned many times to ask how we were. The hand-crafted mocktails are exceptional. My pineapple berry fresca was sweeter than my sister's blackberry smash, we both like the fresca better.
The pumpkin waffle was dee-lish, slightly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. I would suggest a larger dollop of butter though. I should have asked for more, then I likely would not have used the syrup -- I think the butter would have been just fine. The apple fritter French toast was a large portion, my sister enjoyed it. Bacon was crispy, sausage had an unusual flavor to it that I couldn't quite identify but it, too, was very good.
We usually bring our own take-home containers as we want to avoid plastic and Styrofoam, but we forgot this time. That said, I was over the moon to see their take-home containers were compostable. Love that they do this, I wish more restaurants would.
Yep, ABEC is definitely a place to try again and again.
UPDATED after 1 year:
They seem to have fixed their execution problems, our toast was infact toasted. They have really come around and are doing a good job on their very cool menu. The homemade sausage paddy are a high note and the specials and the brie omelet were pretty awesome.
Old review:
Good ideas, horrible execution.
If you absolutely hate cooked food, and toast that has been, well, toasted this is the place for you!
After sitting it took a significant amount of time to get served, and when the food came out it was not finished. The english muffins on the Benedict weren't toasted, to be clear they weren't lightly toasted they were not toasted at all, the potatoes weren't fully cooked and had cold centers. It wasn't great and left the Benedicts as spongy messes. The bacon has a good smoky flavor, but it's all smoke and no bacon, smoked toast would have the same flavor. It was the kind of food you smile and eat if your kids made it but nothing enjoyable. The tables next to us had similar complaints about their food and one of the servers flat out said they had been sending food back all day and that on the weekend and particularly after noon (well before closing) the cook staff just doesn't care.
So I guess you should avoid this place on the weekends and for brunch, which seems odd as that is usually the time you want brunch the most.
Great server, but that's it. I personally did like parts of my food, but my husband was very disappointed. Pancakes were fluffy, but they were tough to separate with my fork. I liked the omelet, but it was only good because goat cheese was giving it flavor. The side of potatoes were bland and needed more crispy-ness. The egg Benedict was bland. The egg had no yolk. It tasted like good lox, too slaty, though, and nothing more. The bagel was bad. The drinks were delicious, the best part of the meal. Coffee and non-alcoholic juice.
This is a great little breakfast place! Not super big, so guessing it gets pretty busy on the weekends with long lines. The decor is fairly simple, but still warm and cozy. Our server was pleasant and fairly attentive. The food was really pretty good. Everything we had was good with some fun and unique dishes, like Salmon Benedict.
Delicious breakfast spot with many gluten-free options. They have a specific gluten-free menu for breakfast and lunch, I have not tried lunch yet. The gluten-free pancakes are really good consistently every time I have been here. My only complaint is it's pricier than I think it should be.
They have lots of fun drink options which I have not tried but have friends that love their different mimosa options.
Their food is more comfort food and not where you want to go to eat healthy.
Servers are very friendly and helpful.
Food was delicious, great atmosphere, not too busy. Server forgot a couple things but was nice about it when we asked.
But DO NOT get a non alcoholic drink to-go because this is how they give it to you.
We just wanted a nice cold drink on a hot day to take with us shopping after our meal but we sure as hell aren't walking around or driving around anywhere with a drink in a bag labeled "cocktail"
Had to finish both in the car and throw it away because I was not about to look like an alcoholic at Big Lots lmao!
We initially found this restaurant in North Carolina and fell in love! We were surprised to see one here in Arizona! Honestly we were skeptical at first but this location has been just as amazing! We've come here quite a bit over this past year and every time has been nothing short of amazing! We've brought others here who absolutely loved it as well. The manager is usually there and checks on everyone. Great hospitality! This most recent time we had a craving for their delicious beignets so I'm embarrassed to say we were those jerks that showed up 20 minutes before closing. Everyone was so kind, despite us staying past their opening time. Not a single person treated us like an inconvenience. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant and this location! Ashley T. was our waitress today and she was so sweet and attentive! We thought for sure our food would be thrown together and not the best since we showed up so late but if it's even possible everything tasted and looked even better than normal! It's a little pricey but absolutely worth it for the quality and uniqueness of their menu!
Such a hidden little Gem, food is top knotch Crab Cake Benedict with Cheese grits was awesome and the morning drink options were outstanding. Will be back to break another egg ????.
