Best WLM Reviews
Horrible experience. Scheduled an 8am appointment 1 month in advance and showed up on time. Waited until 9:30 for someone to finally start my hair and did not get finished until 11 hours later!! They have terrible time management and stack clients irresponsibly. I scheduled a wash and deep conditioning as an add on, but my hair was not properly detangled. Then when I requested the braider to detangle the hair more, she caught an attitude with me and called my hair nappy. I have beautiful thick hair and was able to run my fingers through it before my appointment. So, whatever they did during my wash and deep conditioning caused my hair to be in a dry and tangled state. Calling a clients hair nappy is so disrespectful, especially when it wasn’t nappy beforehand. The way the braider handled my hair was traumatic and painful to the point that I was crying and in so much pain. FYI I am not tender headed and I got knotless braids which have never hurt before. After I voiced my complaints, I was looked at as the problem and was told I can’t receive a less heavy handed braider. I was also told that my current braider didn’t have time to detangle my hair because she had somewhere to be…that’s absolutely ridiculous and I honestly should’ve went off in the moment. The style I got was $360 and I was told it wasn’t worth her time to properly detangle…even though I paid for it. Idk what type of business they are running but I will neverrrrr be back and honestly I should’ve left out mid appointment. That’s my main regret. Should have never allowed them to keep pulling my hair and hurting me. The braids look good but they hurt so much that I’m literally taking them out not even 24 hours later. Waste of money and definitely a waste of time
Update: I’ve taken down the knotless braids and my scalp has stress bumps and is still sore in some places even with the braids out.
I initially wrote a good review because it was a new business and I wanted to support. I went in for a 10 am appt. i asked for spring twists. My hair is about 6 to 8 inches long and healthy. They told me $250 for twists and told me if i wanted them long enough to put up in a bun or pony tail it would be $350. I was going out of town figured i pay the money. The stylist kept saying she was sorry there was not a mirror in front of me and i kept thinking she thought she was hurting my hair. Long story short they finished at 11 pm. I was so tired i paid and left. I went home and it was too much hair and she did not finish ends or clean it up. I contacted owner she seemed very nice and apologetic told me she would fix it for me which she did took half out and re twisted. The next week twists coming out and the following week more came out. I text and sent pics and asked to be partially refunded. She had a novice stylist work on me i paid $400 for hair treatment. Not including transportation She got me with the new business and the christian woman part. She never responded to my second text about partial refund. I was the foolish one and paid the costly mistake. Dont you make it. In fairness there are some good stylist there. I did not get one and the owner knew she was novice. This is why i am editing my reaponse. My experience wont be everyones but at least you know
I discovered Anointed Hair Braiding Fall of 2020. I have had my hair braided at least 3x’s by this group and each time has yielded clean, neat, and beautiful braids. Braiding hair is available/included in the service and so while pricing is a bit more than I was use to paying for braids, I don’t mind considering the quality of the hair and the luxury of not having to go out looking for braiding hair. The staff is professional and warm. The average time spent for knotless braids, specifically boho knotless braids with human hair ends has been about 8-10hrs. Surprisingly, yesterday I was done with my appointment in 7hrs. Honestly this is an improvement and one that will allow me to visit again in the near future.
I went here to get braids. I got braids for the first time. I love them. Awesome staff
Went to this salon 3 times solely because it's in walking distance to my house. This most recent appointment will absolutely be my last.
- The owner is rude and has no respect for her clients' time. An elderly woman was in tears waiting for an hour+ after her appointment time and the owner was nowhere to be found. Luckily the barber next door was able to service her.
- They are ALWAYS late. Guaranteed your appointment will not start on time and the owner will barely care when you call her about it.
- The one braider doesn't speak English well so she doesn't understand directions. The first time I had her my hairstyle was nothing close to what I wanted and this time the twists were way too long so she had to redo a bunch of them. She is also incredibly slow. I was in a chair for almost 9 hours for regular sized passion twists!
- Their new location has no wi-fi, bad service, and no TV. So I was staring at a wall for most of the 9 hours.
- A few of the twists in the front were done too loose and started falling out in less than 2 weeks. I texted to see the cost just to redo the first 2 rows of twists and kept getting the runaround. Once I threatened to cancel the appointment she gives me an insanely ridiculous price so I'm forced to just take the whole style out and redo it at another salon.
Just an awful experience overall. Was hoping my interactions would get better with them but it just kept getting worse. Worth traveling farther for great service. Look elsewhere!
I used to go here regularly for braids & never had any major issues. But i went a few weeks ago after almost two years & didn’t have the best experience. I did have to push back my original time which was well received but when i got to the location. I saw that they are not located at the original location salon. Instead they’re renting salon booths in DC- which is fine. But about 20 minutes into my service another client walks in for a quick braided style. The braider agreed to stop my hair and work on the other client. Because it was just two cornrows, i didn’t think it would take too much time but it took over an hour. So i just sat a waited. The client gave me money to help pay for my service (thank God) but the braider offered no compensation or anything. A style that should’ve taken 5 hours max, took almost 7. Resulting in a 35 dollar parking fee. Then the style didnt come out properly and a TON of gel was used on my hair to the point where my hair turned white. The owner offered to fix it but i dont live closeby and Im juggling two jobs. So i couldnt find time to accomodate the owners schedule. I wouldve appreciated a discount off my next service or partial refund if i would have to walk around with a scarf for the next month. Also due to the language barrier the braider did not know the wifi password and i had to pay 20 dollars to access xfinity wifi in order to finish my work for the day. I wouldnt go back & i use to love this shop.
Poor service I’m suing the owner as we speak. Do not give this women your business, you will be so sorry! Her name is Kathrina Nwogo. Do not go to the Hyatsville location, it’s her home. Not good service at all. She doesn’t do good work perhaps why she doesn’t have the employees or the DC location any longer.
If human were perfect I would this people are perfect, cuz the level of treatment I got from this salon is superb. I'll want to go there over and over. Their efficiency is a topnotch and dexterity is second to non. I recommended them to all my friends with dreadlocks, and their experience is quite satisfactory and laden with manifold appreciation. Thanks again I can't wait to be there again.
