This is my first time eating here using DoorDash and I am very disappointed. The food was very cold, no seasoning, very dry, and not as pictured. I've heard people mentioned this place. I'm not impressed at all.
I ordered the special with chicken also side order of meatloaf , porkchop, and turkey wing in which nothing was as pictured. Price is good but food was mediocre.
I love Annie Ru’s. It's my go-to place when I want southern cooking that’s close to home. I don’t mind the drive.
This was my first time trying it after hearing they were just as good as Blu Diner. I ordered through door dash. Upon grabbing my bag from delivery driver I could smell a distinct burnt smell. Before even opening the bag that was stapled shut. It got stronger once I opened the carry out plate. The oxtails looked delicious and wasn’t burnt. BUT the taste was an overwhelming burnt bottom of the pot taste. Down to even making the rice taste burnt from the gravy. I’m not overreacting. I tried another piece just to make sure and for sure it had a strong burnt taste. The Mac n cheese was not only salty but spicy too?? But I was told that their signature thing was salt. The sweet potatoes came from a can with little sweetness. The cornbread and seafood stuffing is as hittin though. Definitely not bashing this restaurant but the cook should’ve known better with the oxtails. I’m sure they thought they could save the meat but it was a bad decision. If you don’t change pots when initially catching the burning then you have ruined the entire pot of meat. Coming from someone who has done it, I’m not perfect lol. I recooked my oxtail with vinegar and sazon. Did take a bit of the burnt taste away. Maybe I’ll try again in a couple of months. Might just have been a hit or miss day for the cook idk.. Now, don't judge me. I'm from the Midwest, and we cook a little differently. I had the meatloaf over rice, yam,and greens with a side of chitterlings, yes chitterlings. The lady asked if I wanted rice, and I thought she was talking about the meal, but she was talking about the chitterlings. I said no. Got home, and I was taken aback by those chitterlings cause they were cut up in little tiny Itty bitty pieces, and I was so disappointed it was more hog mauh in it than chitterlings It was a sad day for me as far as getting chitterlings I haven't had in years. Overall, the other food was good. Meatloaf was different. I give them a 7.5 out of 10
Amazing home cooked food. Taste just like it was cooked in my family's kitchen. The fried fish was some of the best I've had in Duval. Mac n Cheese was great and greenbeans were flavorful. Peach cobbler delicious in so many ways. And the price was very affordable. Definitely eat there if you're on that side of town and if you're not it's worth the drive!
Annie Ru's is the worst restaurant ever. Only because of the customer service. I had a guy just 30 minutes ago at Annie Ru's purposely drop my money on the floor in front of me. I felt humiliated in front of those people inside the restaurant. There was a lady who saw it happen. He dropped my money on the floor without saying "sorry". By the way, the food is trash. Thanks a lot, not only is the customer service disgusting so is the food.
Great food great prices also five dollar budget friendly plates never go wrong saving a buck or few.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant we ordered two meals one meatloaf and one turkey wings and and I got a side of chitterlings and hog mogs and Im from the Midwest so I was expecting chitterlings and a few hog but thats not what i got. The chitterlings and hog were cut up, and it was more hog than chitterlings... that made me sad cause I love some chitterlings and to know they had some here... never again, sorry, though everything else was great, mm the meatloaf was ok. The Mac and cheese were a little salty, but overall, the food was cool
