Best WLM Reviews
Loved the food here.
Mysore masala dosa, rava dosa, gunpowder dosa, filter coffee were 5/5. So fresh and delicious.
The star of the night however was the chicken 65 dry fry. It was so spicy and so juicy. Must try.
Looking forward to my second visit and to try out other new items from their wide ranging menu.
Went on a Sunday for the buffet which had a small waiting line since we arrived around 2pm.
Food was good with more veg options over non veg. Everything was authentic South Indian style dishes and had just the right amount of spice.
Mutton Biryani was very yummy though pieces were little rubbery. Butter paneer/chicken both tasted good.
In veg Brinjal subzi(not sure of the name), puri, vada couple of other items were good.
Coming to dessert, only gulab jamun was good though little sweet.
I am usual to Anjappar restaurant for the last 4 years. Not sure if management changed recently. I am not prioritizing this restaurant recently compared to others in the area. In my recent TOGO order of chicken Manchurian dry, we have been given with a stale chicken is literally not edible and tastes like just mixed with some random sauces. I have to dump it.
The worst part is not this, when I called the restaurant to provide honest and humble feedback, I received a rude response. The person on the phone from the restaurant claimed I am falsifying the quality. He did not even bothered to hear my feedback rather he was busy in disconnecting my call to take future orders.
Well played Anjappar. Now I know why this once famous restaurant is suffering with reviews.
I’m never returning for any kind of occasion.
TL;DR: It's not bad food, but there's some off-putting stuff here.
The biggest warning sign that Anjappar just isn't that good is the way the tiffin room next door has a massive line and Anjappar has none. The second warning sign that something might be amiss is the super strong incense burning in the entrance. Combined with the bottled water they had for the tables, I had to wonder if there was a sewer/plumbing issue. I stank of incense when I left and had to throw all my clothes in the wash and take a shower when I got home.
The food, for all that, wasn't bad. The flavors and spices were muted for an American audience, and the rice wasn't correct, but overall authentic cookery was there. With lots of vegetarian options, Anjappar offers something for everyone. The meat side of the buffet had chicken, goat, and mutton. The one vegetarian dish I missed on the vegetarian side was saag or palak paneer. But there were a lot of choices.
All around, I probably won't be back. There are too many good Indian places around to settle for a middle-of-the-road buffet that smells like an incense shop.
As a vegetarian, I was doubtful if we would have enough options. We reached the restaurant on Saturday around 12, and we got a table immediately. I liked the way they kept vegetarian dishes separate from non-veg. Fresh kuzhipaniyaram was served, which was spongy with a tangy taste. All the vegetarian dishes tasted good, and even my kids enjoyed the food. While non-veg had more options compared to vegetarian, the vegetarian options we had tasted good.
Very good place at nice location.
I visited on Saturday buffet and there was long queue, it took me 20-25 mints to get inside. Realized that being a popular restaurant it’s acceptable, although on weekends buffets arrive early that’s only one thing you can do.
Food options are nice, starters and main course had many options. For me main course dishes were hot & spicy.
Curd rice, Uttapam, Vada, noodles, aloo sabji and puri are must try, well there’s a lot of food options and people who like hot & spicy food it’s really good place for buffet.
A complete south Indian restaurant with full of flavors.
Dessert options were nice as well.
Ordered chicken/prawn biryani, fish tawa fry and the most delicious dish of all was Deer sukka.
Must try. Authentic food with amazing taste
Takeout experience. Not satisfied at all. I picked up my order myself and the service was so slow. Despite the big waiting line the food is not deserve any waiting at all. Every food was pretty mediocre. The only dish that really surprised me is the one woth the rabbit meat. It tasted like someone put the whole rabbit through the grinder - the million of small bones in the dish. Disappointed.
