They're okay, probably one of the better places in town.
Service kinda sucks - waitress checked in on us basically once the whole meal - and that was after I flagged her down to say we needed drink refills.
Prices are sketchy - it's an extra charge for fries, sauce on wings, carrots with wings, etc.
Food was quite good though! Will say the pizzas came probably 10-15 minutes after the sandwiches came - some lead time is fair, but that was a lot.
Cool bar environment.

We really liked this place! Even bought a T-shirt haha. Beers were good, great food menu... From the pizza to burgers and the fried pickles!! Cool vibe downstairs as well!!
We had the best experience here! The service was amazing! Taylor took very good care of us. I highly recommend the nachos. The stay classy elkin was my favorite beer ????
My husband and I have been stopping at the Angry Troll twice a year, for the past five years.
We stay at a hotel near by as we travel from FL to MD and have always had a very good experience at the Angry Troll! The atmosphere is great. Sometimes we sit at table, sometimes the bar. The staff have always been friendly, and the food pretty good and reasonably priced.
So we came here a year ago and I got what I considered one of the BEST Bloody Mary’s I have ever had. That would be the first picture. It had pepperoni, olives, pickles, celery, and pepperoncini garnishing it and was a delicious tasting drink. We’ve come a couple times since and I’ve had good Bloody Mary’s but not the same as the one in the first picture. We came on Memorial Day (5/27/24 - sooo sorry the post didn’t post for a week) and I am brought a glass of just drink. My husband takes it to the bar and ask if he could get garnish for my drink. I was expecting my drink to have garnish and was a little disappointed that my drink came out naked. The Bloody Mary sitting on the bar at the time had ALL of the garnishes on it including a freaking chicken nugget! The bartender took a skewer back in the kitchen and my husband thought he’s going to make it special for her. He brings out whatever this is. Burger toppings with two pieces of celery. One of which looked like it had been gnawed on. The onion slices fell off on the table when my husband sat it down. This was a slap in the face. Like the bartender was being flippant about it. My husband asked me to taste it and we hoped it was at least good tasting. Well the Bloody Mary mix they use is good tasting, because there was ZERO alcohol in it. I didn’t want to say anything since we were waiting for our food. I was never asked if my drink was good or ok and never asked if I would like another one. Then as we are walking out another Bloody Mary was being delivered to another table and had all the appropriate garnishes on it. I have never been so disappointed and dissatisfied with a mixed drink in my life.
Had Skull Cap Basin Blond and Blond ales. Wood fired pizza hit the spot. Recommend sitting at bar rather than waiting. We met several bar mates and had great conversation.
The atmosphere was loud but very comfortable, not uptight. The bar area was full but we ate at a table with about 5 min wait. We got burgers and pizza and the pretzel for appetizer. Everything great with no complaints. Beer was good and service fast and efficient. We would definitely eat here again.

Angry Troll is essentially Foothills in the actual foothills in that it’s a spacious brewpub offering a solid lineup of taps and better-than-average bar food. It’s housed in a historic brick building with plenty of room. Despite the size, Angry Troll does keep busy, especially on game days, which can lead to a (thankfully not unreasonable) wait.
The menu here is about what you’d expect: fried apps, wings, nachos, salads, sandwiches, burgers, and pizzas. Add to that eight in-house beers (plus others available in bottles/cans), and you’ll likely find something that you like. Our personable and hard-working server, Virginia, was kind enough to offer a few suggestions.
It is in the quality of the food where Angry Troll stands apart. Fried pickles were cut into thin chips perfect for dipping. A BBQ chicken sandwich offered tender meat, lots of cheese, crispy bacon, and a slathering of aptly-named Sweet Heat sauce. It was a beast to eat, but it was worth every messy bite. My wife opted for a Southern Comfort burger featuring local beef, house-made pimento, and an onion ring, and it too proved tasty and satisfying.
Prices are moderate (burgers and sandwiches clock in at $9-$10 without sides), and the ambiance is casual. It’s a lively atmosphere with TVs everywhere, but it doesn’t get headache-inducingly loud.
All told, Angry Troll delivers well-executed food in a laid-back setting. It’s well worth a stop if you’re out Elkin way.
