Best WLM Reviews
There are rare moments when you stumble upon something that transcends the mere culinary art and transforms into a pure experience—a moment of bliss so profound it feels almost divine. And that is exactly what I found at Angelo’s Pizzaria, where the Philly cheesesteak isn't just a meal, it's an epiphany.
Visiting the city, it was unfortunately my first stop, unfortunate not because it was bad, but because the bar was set so high that no other place could deliver. Also the pizza was really good.
Came with the expectation that they would have the "best cheesesteak in Philly" and they did not disappoint. Their bread is the showstopper with it's amazing crust and flavour to hold the very juicy steak morsels.
HOWEVER, you should come prepared to have to wait after you order, so would highly recommend placing your order and just go wander the nearby 9th St Italian Market until you get the text. It was a beautiful Saturday, and took 1.5 HOURS for ours to be ready. And yet it still was arguably, our favourite bite of the trip.
For reference: not a local. We had the classic Philly cheese steak sandwich and it was solid! Honestly, it tasted like an elevated Hamburger Helper. If you know, you know. There was really long wait. We waited in line for maybe 20-30 minutes to just put our order in. Once we placed our order (two sandwiches), we had another wait that was over an hour. To be fair, it was a Sunday game day and the Birds were playing. That said, I felt this place was over hyped but still good!
This place lived up to the hype and then some. Holy $*#!& that cheesesteak was immaculate. Out of body experience.
We went with their signature cheesesteak with cooper sharp cheese and onions. The freshness of the bread is such an added bonus. It's just right. The sandwich itself is BIG but you'll definitely finish it and want more. I'll be thinking about this sandwich forever until I have it again.
The upside down pizza, we added pepperoni — it was also pretty damn good.
As far as how the place works, you can only order takeout. There was a huge line when we got there but it tends to move pretty quick. You put in your order, provide your number and you'll get a text when it's ready. If you're ordering pizza it'll typically take ~30mins for your order to be ready. You pay once you pick up your order and it's CASH ONLY!
HANDS DOWN MUST TRY WHEN IN PHILLY
There's very little parking near it.
All I can say is WOW!!! Probably the best Cheesesteak I’ve had in a long time. Went on a trip to Philly for the day and had to try a Philly cheesesteak. After researching this was on most people’s to 5 so I tried it and it did not disappoint. I also got the Diablo pizza and man was that good as well. Spicy but delicious and made me want more. Over all if your in the area come check it out. Word of advise order ahead I went at 6:15 and it was still packed. From what everyone says it takes a while to order then even longer to get it. But don’t let it discourage you because you won regret it. Also they only take cash and it’s only Togo so be prepared
Angelo's Pizzeria is often hailed as one of Philly's best cheesesteak spots, so naturally, I had to give it a try. Overall, it was very good, but maybe not the absolute best as some claim. The bread was fantastic—crispy on the outside with a nice chew, but since it’s seeded, the sesame flavor is pretty bold. If you’re not into that, you might find it overwhelming. The sandwich was definitely packed with meat and cheese, which is always a plus, but I found the flavor of the meat a bit bland. The bread ended up being the most flavorful part of the sandwich, which might not be ideal for everyone.
One major heads-up: be prepared to wait. We visited on a Sunday afternoon before an Eagles game, and the line wrapped around the corner. We ended up waiting an hour and 15 minutes for our sandwiches. We tried calling ahead, but it was impossible to get through, and online ordering only offered pizza, so ordering ahead wasn’t an option. The cheesesteak is very good, but with the long wait and no way to call ahead, I'm not sure it’s worth the wait time if you're in a hurry. Great sandwich, but plan your visit wisely!
Came here for the first time today. I must say I was impressed. Expect a long line to get in. This is a popular spot in Philadephia. But the line moves relatively quickly. They expedite the orders in a fast efficient way too which I like. Well organized operation. Texting you when your food is ready. I waited about 5 minutes for my sandwich. As far as ambiance, there is NONE. It is a SMALL place. There is NO sitting. NO tables. Just order and pick up your food concept. Simple. CASH ONLY as well. To the food, I ordered their famous cheesesteak provolone with grilled onions. It was fantastic! Served on a FRESH, sourdough roll with sesame seeds. The provolone cheese I could tell was high quality. They give you a generous amount of meat which I liked and appreciated. The meat had a lot of flavor as well. This place EASILY runs circles around BOTH Geno's and Pat's all day long. There is no comparison. Plus the prices at Angelo's is competitive. They give you BETTER VALUE at the same price point as their competiton. They definitely have good ownership here. Would highly recommend Angelo's to anyone looking for a TRUE Philly cheesesteak!! ONLY thing I wish they offered here was pizza by the slice. I wanted to try their pizza here but couldn't justify buying a whole pizza to myself. But wish I could try it because I am sure their pizza is EXCELLENT like their cheesesteaks!!
It took me forever, but I FINALLY tried it here for the first time. It was so worth the wait! This is the GREATEST cheesesteak I’ve ever had! The girls at the counter were super nice and professional. The flow of the place was smooth. The line and wait time wasn’t long at all. I have had many cheesesteaks in my lifetime and if you saw me, you could tell! I have had one from just about every spot in Philly. This is hands down the ONLY place to go now!
