Best WLM Reviews

Everything I ordered was amazing! I got two plates. One for me and for my husband. We both orders the collards greens, Mac and cheese with the jerk chicken wings. I have to say, I’m not a big fan of collards greens but these were AMAZING!! The seasoning was perfect and the meat mixture was bomb. The mac n cheese should be called smack n cheese because i was literally was smacking my lips eating it, it was that good. It was perfectly moist and the cheese pull was 10/10. The jerk chicken wings were super savory and seasoned well. They were also pretty spicy which was surprising but I love spice. My husband and I ate the plates up quick. We will definitely be back to try other stuff on the menu. Service was good and quick. Music and atmosphere was chill, good music playlist. Definitely recommend if you are looking for a hot meal that will hit the spot.
Tried Angelea’s for the first time today and it wasn’t a good or excessively bad experience. Customer service wasn’t rude or inviting. Just … basic. The line did move fast though, so that was nice. Only about 15 minutes to get through the line , but it was busy so that was shorter than I expected it to take. As a Mac n cheese lover, I was sad the Mac n cheese looked better than it tasted. There was basically just clunky cheese over the noodles, not settled. It wasn’t bad though, it just wasn’t good either. The yams were average. And the jerk chicken sauce was good. I will say, I ate my food in the car, never even leaving the parking lot and the wings were barely warm. I almost went back in to request fresher ones but decided to just chuck up the loss and take the experience for what it was: a new experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the corn bread. Personally I wouldn’t be back but for a $21 meal, it wasn’t bad. Thank you.
The food has been great, every time I've gone! My faves are the jerk wings, turkey, cabbage, greens, & sweet potatoes, although I've enjoyed everything I've tried so far. I had the peach cobbler here for the first time recently, and it was amazing! The breading was perfect! Just make sure that you go early before they run out of menu items! The line order has improved, but the parking lot can be packed (as well as the restaurant). This is a "To-go" spot- no seating indoors.
Word on the street was a fire soul food place in Brooklyn Park. I finally made out there! This is it! This is the restaurant you need to visit! I ordered the Catfish greens and Mac and cheese. It was some of the best soul food I have ever eaten. And definitely the best soul food in Minnesota! I have not tried everything but I will! I did have a wait staff was not overly friendly but certainly not rude. Given the volume of food being prepared and the quality of the food, it's worth the wait.
I was hesitant to get food due to some bad reviews, but I’m so glad I did! The bbq ribs, Mac and cheese and collard greens were all amazing! So much flavor! The peach cobbler tasted more like candied yams but still pretty darn good! It was pricey but worth it! I made 2 meals out of it. Best $32 spent I’ve spent on food so far!
I finally got to eat Angelea's this past weekend after hearing so much about it and needing some comfort food. I got the catfish nuggets with mac & cheese, greens, an extra side of candied yams and the peach cobbler. It came with a cornbread muffin. Everything was delicious! It felt like Thanksgiving. The portions were generous and I enjoyed every single item. Can't wait to go back!
Love this place. I’m new to Minneapolis from the south, and Angelea’s is my go-to for soul food in the twin cities. You can’t go wrong with any of the food choices. The jerk chicken wings, mac n cheese, and cabbage are all good. For dessert, choose the peach cobbler over the banana pudding.
It was my very first time trying soul food. Omg, this is my kinda food, every dish is seasoned to perfection. It literally made me dance while I was eating. The sides dishes were to die for. I love to cook all different types of food, I'm for sure gonna start cooking more soul food for my family since now I know how it suppose to taste. ????
