Best WLM Reviews

Found this restaurant while driving and so glad we stopped! Amazing food and service. The fried shrimp and fried chicken was just what we were craving! We were so full with dinner but could not resist the beignets with chocolate sauce that we took out. We did not have reservation so had to sit outside which was pleasant in the daylight. But was a bit dark once the sun sets till the security flood lights came up. Would be nice to invest in some outdoor lighting :) Some parking at the back but can a bit tight for large pickup trucks. There is also a speakeasy bar at the back.
Overall, it was a nice place to eat. Service was a bit slow, but they were busy. I had the fried chicken it could use a bit more flavor. The sides and desserts were delicious. Super cute place.
Five Stars. My girls wanted to go see the Angel Oak Tree, I totally messed up and put the address in the GPS to the Angel Oak Restaurant instead of the Angel Oak Tree. We got to the Tree at 5 o’clock, 5 minutes to late and the tree was closed. My girls were not happy to say the least, some real Clark Griswald Vacation stuff. They wanted to eat so I doubled back to the Angel Oak restaurant and we were all extremely happy that we did. It must have been destiny, All four meals we ordered were awesome. Highly recommend the hush puppy and fried green tomatoes appetizers , Fried Chicken and the Shrimp & Grits as main course meals. Then finish off with the beignet dessert. We will definitely come back here every time we’re in Charleston
We visited on a Friday around noon after a stop at the Angel Oak Tree. My hearing isn’t the best and the place does get pretty noisy if you sit inside during the lunch rush, but there’s tables outside as well. Service was good and the food was delicious.
My nana got the fried chicken with honey with a side of collards and grits. I had a bite of the honey chicken and it was fantastic.
I got the fried shrimp, truffle parm fries and coleslaw. Shrimp were perfect and as a non-truffle gal who likes to try things I “don’t like” every once in a while just to recalibrate the tastebuds, I thought the truffle flavor wasn’t overpowering and really good.
If you’re looking for a meal after visiting the angel oak or on your way to drop family off at the airport. This is a great spot.
My girlfriend and I stopped at the Angel Oak Restaurant for lunch as a random choice after experiencing the Angel Oak. We were both so glad that we did!
The food was absolutely delicious and prepared in unique ways. I had the shrimp and grits with fried green tomatoes. I keep trying shrimp and grits at different places and those that I had here were among the best. We chose beignets and banana pudding for dessert. Again. Both were wonderful. They serve very good coffee and ice tea as well.
The wait staff was knowledgeable, friendly, attentive and helpful. The atmosphere was comfortable and pleasant.
I will gladly go back there if I'm ever in the area.
Great service. Great outdoor seating options. Fried chicken was the juiciest I’ve ever had, though it could have used a little salt. The shrimp and grits was delicate and delicious with perfectly cooked shrimp. Your server makes your cocktails which means faster drink service. There is a “speakeasy” cocktail lounge behind the main restaurant that seemed to be packed with locals. Cons: Small dining room with crazy-uncomfortable seating. Not to mention you’re very close to your neighbors. Beware the locals who do not treat this with the respect it deserves, especially the obstructive elderly and couples with young children.
My family and I (2 adults, 2kids) ate here for dinner! We didn’t have reservations (didn’t know we needed them), but thankfully they were able to get us seated right away. The hostess was nice! Overall, the food was great, especially the fried green tomatoes and the shrimp and grits! I ordered the fried chicken. The sides were good, particulary the greens, but the chicken was just okay…not seasoned. I gave it to my husband who’d ordered the shrimp and grits (excellent and I wished I’d ordered)! We were thankful that they offered a kids menu and crayons to keep our two entertained. They had shrimp and chicken and enjoyed it. My husband had the blood orange cosmopolitan and enjoyed it.
Our server was attentive and did a great job, but she wasn’t very friendly/engaging (maybe because we didn’t have a reservation…I don’t know. They were also just starting to get busy, so that could be it).
Overall, great meal!
We were in Seabrook for our anniversary and wanted quintessential southern cuisine without going in to Charleston. We were not disappointed! The pimento cheese bread and risotto were to die for. They even took us without a reservation on a Saturday evening and service was very prompt.
