Andaz Savannah by Hyatt was such a great place to stay! The room was fantastic—spacious, comfortable, and beautifully designed. The bar and lobby had this cool, local vibe that’s so hard to find at other hotels. Plus, the location couldn’t be better, with so many great restaurants and bars just a short walk away.
What really made the experience unforgettable, though, was the staff—especially Patrick, Jay, Isaiah, and Sarah. I checked in late on Sunday night, and Patrick’s energy was unreal. He made me feel so welcome, like I’d just arrived midday instead of at night. He was super helpful, full of great food recommendations, and just had this genuine, caring attitude. The fact that I still remember his name a week later says a lot!
If you’re looking for a stylish hotel with great service and an unbeatable location, I highly recommend Andaz Savannah. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel right at home.
Everything about this hotel was perfect. Tasha helped us check in. She was thorough and so nice. We needed to cut our stay a day early and the front desk was so helpful. The location is perfect. We ate breakfast every day (downstairs and room service) and I had room service lunch. The service was fast and the food was delicious. My husband enjoyed the welcome drink and the beer selection at the bar. The only complaint is we got charged for mini bar liquor we did not use and we still have not heard back about these charges a week later. Check your mini bar items because the vodka was opened and used. I reported it but it still got charged. We were also charged for another item that we didn't use and don't even know what it was.
Wonderful location to the entire historic district being 2 blocks from the river front being back a bit off of Bay street mitigated the traffic noise (which can ne very loud with construction trucks, etc). ||The staff (Patrick) was very accommodating in advance of arrival to requests for an interior quiet room , extra pillows and a floor fan. All of the staff was friendly throughout our stay. We appreciated the complimentary soft drinks, water and potato chips. ||It was raining and we were offered umbrellas in the lobby .
Wow! What a property that values Hyatt Globalists! We had another couple with us and we both celebrated our anniversary there. My daughter was just accepted into SCAD and we wanted to do a quick walking tour of Savannah!
The property sent a chilled champagne to our rooms with some chocolates! Really nice! We were both upgraded to suites, one has a kitchenette and the other had a view of the street. We had to switch the kitchenette one because of a sewer smell. Hotel promptly addressed that.
Breakfast, order the Shrimp and Grits and it is going to be fantastic! The bar has a happy hour menu but the drinks are just $1 off the regular price.
All the drinks except alcohol are included on the mini bar.
Parking can be messy to get a spot for the valet to pick it up.
The only one downside was that there was a wedding at the property so we couldn’t use the firepit for smores and the elevator was being heavily used by the wedding guests.
As a hotel: great hotel. If you know Hyatt, it’s the quality you would expect! Bed, bathroom, amenities, all very nice. The pool/terrace on the third floor is nice, but does not have much of a view.
Location: walking distance to everything within historic downtown. 5-15 minute walk to the river.
Restaurant: Over a few days, we had the gourmand, the shrimp and grits, the french toast, and the biscuits and gravy. All were excellent. The shrimp and grits was the smallest of the portions, but very flavorful. We recommend adding a side meat to most of them for extra protein, and the chicken and pork sausages were WAY better than the bacon.
Also, the espresso is a very dark roast if that matters to you!
Atmosphere would get a 4 but giving 5 because for a hotel it’s a fantastic restaurant.
Positives: Great location, especially if traveling with dogs since the park is across the street. Valet and front desk were easy to check-in with, free drinks and snacks, spacious Andaz Loft.
Cons: They put us on the 2nd floor in a handicapped room so the bathroom curtain only covered halfway, tub barely drained and was uncomfortable to shower in, bathroom aesthetics are old in comparison to other brands in Savannah, and the curtains do not move, so you couldn’t block out light. Very uncomfortable to sleep with and people were walking right outside the room on the balcony.
The good: extremely friendly front-desk staff (really swell folks). Very convenient to downtown. Our room (suite) included a small fridge, a small balcony, and a living room. A limited selection of snacks and non-alcoholic beverages were also provided. Sangria/wine was available downstairs in the afternoon. Bar had an afternoon happy hour. The bad: a lot of little problems that stacked up. Self-parking was 'full,' had to valet. Broken toilet on arrival in room. One of two elevators inoperable, took the stairs a lot. Billing issues on exit. Gym locked at 6am. All things included, very much enjoyed the hotel and would visit again. Globalist: we received a suite upgrade on arrival. Breakfast was at an $85 credit for two, but they wanted to charge gratuity for our second night (but not the first?).
We had a wonderful time at this hotel. All the staff were wonderful - great at their job and very personable. The globalist experience was flawless and we received more than expected so were delighted. All benefits were honored without our asking and we left feeling we were treated 'special' despite simply being one room of many in a hotel that was very busy. We weren't expecting a suite upgrade because it didn't look like any were available, but upon check-in we were told we'd been upgraded to an Andaz Suite. The waterfront is only a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and well worth seeing. Very historical area. The hotel has a couple of bikes that can be used on a first-come-first-served basis. Breakfast was delicious and we were very impressed with the way front desk, hostess, server and chef performed - all we had to do was order and enjoy!
