This place was definitely not as advertised. The price was affordable and the person working the night that we came was actually very nice. The room, however, was not nice. It was evident that people had been smoking in the room which was something I had asked about I was told that it didn't happen. The sheets were clean but the rugs were not and it appeared that the police had not been deep cleaned in a long time. There were water stains all along the ceiling which indicated possible leakage from the room above. There was literal mold growing on the baseboard behind the toilet. The driveway was littered with trash and the entryway was covered with cigarette butts. The breakfast room did appear to have some new renovation and looks like they are trying to make some things better but there's no excuse for not cleaning even when you have an old building. Given that there was no breakfast attendant, I wasn't sure how long the products were sitting in the breakfast room. I did try the apple juice which basically was watered down and warm. I'm hoping that over time they are able to bring it up to speed and have the accommodations match the niceness of the people working at the front desk. In the morning when we tried to check out we had to wait for 20 minutes for someone to come to the desk so that we could get a receipt.
The hotel is under construction, as noted on their website. The rooms look NOTHING like the pictures that are posted. The rooms need to be updated and show wear. The first room we had was on the main floor. Some individuals are long-term guests; we were placed across from them. The doors across from us did not close, so you could see into their bathroom. The other door was missing a lock and had painter's tape covering the hole. I let the hotel front desk know that I felt uncomfortable, and they moved me immediately to a more comfortable floor. If you are traveling with kids and want to feel safe, I would keep looking. The staff was friendly, but this was not a hotel we would visit again due to the issue of the kids being scared and me feeling uncomfortable.
Stayed there for work. Only gave three stars as they are currently updating the place. My room was nice , comfortable bed and pillows. Still have along way to go but they are going in the right direction
Counter agent was very helpful when I called direct to book the room, and when we checked in. Room was immaculate, with comfortable pillows and adequate mattress. Easy ride to downtown Portsmouth.
Under going some renovations, but the rooms we're fine. Big plus was the nice and roomy walk in shower.
This place was the second most horrible Hotel experience I've ever had. The pictures are not accurate. There was an unrepaired outlet in my bathroom, the pool was closed off, I received absolutely no turndown service even after staying there for a week, and i didnt get a picture of it but the apples in the fridge for the continental breakfast were spoiled until they changed them out almost a week later. As i said no turndown so no fresh linens all week and when I ran out of toilet paper I had to go down to the front desk and request it. I travel for my job and and travel is part of my compensation package so when I say this you can know that I am not being facetious or exaggerating for effect when I say you quite literally could not pay me to stay at this hotel again.

Although this might not be your first choice …. or 8th but there was a pool. It was not functional due to renos but how often do you book a hotel for the pool but don’t actually use it #JustSpittingFacts
There was a “hot” breakfast. Do you have to request a frozen croissant from the front desk, defrost it in the microwave for 45 seconds, flip over, defrost for another 45 seconds, heat on high for 90 seconds and then eat half?? Yes! ✅
There’s also a toaster ????
The air conditioner works ✅
The East Wing is under reno so there is only access to the West Wing which I assume is due for a reno next or has somewhat started in some aspects (ie missing bathroom fan, exposed plywood on corners of rug, chipped paint on moulding, pink “hue” on some areas of the bathroom grout, door lock that needs a little love to securely latch and the retro decor throughout the room. So technically everything is clean ✅
The water is hot if you want ti wash dishes and the side door entrance has a card reader entrance to keep out the raccoons ????✅✅
After searching for a pet friendly hotel I reserved st the Anchorage Inn because Google said it was pet friendly. When I arrived, at 10:00 pm after a long drive, I was refused and had to find another pet friendly hotel. You never know what surprise is waiting for you there.
