We were looking for a different place to eat, maybe a little off the beaten track and we found it, Anchor Bar & Grill. The sign on the door says to seat yourself. So we looked around and the only table left was for four people, so we sat down. Before we could pick up the menu, the friendly server was already there to take our drink order.. They have lots of beers and other alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. The burgers are different. I mean you can get a normal burger, but why not a Ruben burger or an olive and cream cheese burger. All burgers come with one side, and both the burger and fries we had were huge. The patties are obviously fresh and hand made. They cook everything in a flattop just off the bar. Our server arrived with our drinks, and about two minutes later our food arrived, and the burgers were huge. They also had a 2/3rd pound burger too. It was a fun place, and a little quirky too. Then I noticed it has been in Diner's Drive-ins and Dives a few years ago, and I see why.
When I'm back in the area I'll go there again.
Got the Anchor Burger, fries & a local beer for less than $15. The burger was huge, fries were "home" style & fresh cut. They were served so fast that I still had half a beer! Great spot for a burger & beer! Staff was great, as well.
The greatest affordable burgers I've ever seen. Seriously they are 6-7$ and beers are in the 3-4$ range. Our jalapeños cream cheese burger took maybe 5 mins to show up. Beware it is crazy busy on weekend nights and it can be hard to find a spot. Fear not! Just wait a bit and ask the wonderful people eating there if they want to share a table or bar top. We've never had to wait more than a few minutes for someone to offer a table or move down the bar. It absolutely is worth the wait. The food was spot on and so tasty. Beer was cold and the ambiance is so much fun. Will definitely be a must stop every time we come thru now.
Cash only bar & burger stop. There are no ruffles here -You get to find your own seat and someone will bring what you order. Not a lot of pleasantries but the food was delicious and so cheap!
The Anchor Bar is an institution everyone within 2 hours of Superior/Duluth MUST try! The burgers and fries are A+… the semi cranky waitresses add to the charm… the ambience is second to none… and it’s Wisconsin - PLENTY of beer choices! Love this place and will come back every time I’m in the vicinity! Also - you will NOT find a better burger this size for under $10…
First time here. Amazing food, attwntive service, great atmosphere. My dad had the Buffalo, my husband had the Oliveburger, and I had the Cashewburger. I'll be back!

If you are a female /woman, who may be disabled : there is a high chance YOU'LL BE ABLE to go to the bathroom, if you have a walker or Rollator or wheelchair in here! The door looks wide, and it feels like an airplane toilet. The space between the wall and front of toilet is like 10 inches. I saw a ramp, maybe 3 ft wide 5 ft long (not including the turn towards the back door) , on wooden "porch" by back door. There are a few raised thresholds one would have to have another person for assistance?
