Best WLM Reviews
What a surprise! We had not been here before. But it is a beautiful space with top notch service. The food was great and so are the drinks. It's hard to find a place with elevated food and screens for sports. They do the balance well. There's an outdoor area in the expanded indoor area for people who are not interested in sports. But for those of us who want a great food and service experience and to watch sports, well, this is unique and wonderful
Long Review ahead:
The food was ok. Not Good. Not bad. But ok. If you are here for good drinks or good food. Forget about it. There are much better places for that. But if you are here to pay higher cost for average tacos and below average Margarita. Go for it.
Food review:
Meat tacos were pretty decent. I ordered the pork belly tacos- the most average I have had in Madison. Vegetarian tacos were horrible. Eat a sub in subway and come here if you are a vegetarian.
Drinks review:
I make much better Margarita at home than what was served here for $12. Who adds sugar to spicy margarita glass rim? That was ridiculous. Watered down drinks.
Service:
Abysmal. Disgusting. Cant be worse. We were seated next to the kitchen and when asked to change we asked to move to a nearby table we were point blank said "NO". We were moved to a table right next to the entrance (everyone knows its a bad location) and the table would not stop shaking and the waiter threw a fit when we politely asked to fix it (not change the table. just fix the shaking table). The waiter had the attitude of a 15 year old teenager asked to do house work. Had zero interest in working or serving food. Oh yeah, we forgot to tell you that the couple that came right after us were seated in the table we were denied. Absolutely disastrous service.
Ambience:
Great ambience. Great music. Wonderful people seem to walk in. Lovely wall decor to go with the music and it is in a great location.
Fix the food. Fix the service. Middleton does not deserve bad service.
First time checking this place out coming from Pennsylvania! I loved it! Food was awesome! Service a 4 only because I walked in and didn’t get attended after having several hosts and waitress walk by me. 5 mins later I get asked if I needed to be seated. Besides that, the atmosphere and everything else 5 stars! Thanks guys!
The pork belly quesadillas are so good it's almost inappropriate. My waitress was friendly, helpful (though I chose a drink other than her recommendations) and prompt. It was a terrific dinner. I do wish they were open later than 8:00 PM. The closing time made me delay my visit for two days.
The food was incredible! The 14 count taco board was immaculate, and we enjoyed every single one. The margaritas tasted great and did their jobs effectively. Even the complementary chips and salsa were better than typical restaurants. Servers were timely and respectful. One of the best options for West-side Madison!
Ancho and Agave has surprisingly good food and GREAT drinks.
We live close enough to walk and like to come over and sit at the bar where Todd the bartender is a friendly fixture. Try the Texas Ranch Water for a delicious (much lower sugar) alternative to a margarita.
We really enjoyed our dinner. The food was delicious, fast, and memorable. Cheesecake Taquitos were amazing. Great service Santiago!
9/9/2024 update: Very busy on a Saturday night but we had a reservation made a week ahead and our table was ready early! Service was fast and friendly from our server Maddie - Thank-you! The highlight menu favorites were the Burrito Bowl, Chicken Fajita and the Mexican Corn appetizer. The Burrito Bowl is amazing, so tasty and so big! Same for the Chicken Fajita, lots of delicious chicken breast and Fajita toppings.
Original Review: This upscale Mexican restaurant is a hit. Recommend getting a reservation or you may not get a table. Great decor, tasty food, great service and good portion size.
The food was fantastic! Love the tacos. Mesquite Chicken Enchilada was great. Two enchiladas lightly sauced with thinly sliced jalapenos. The corn dish appetizer was very good and authentic. We loved the fried plantain as well and it was paired with a spicy sauce, yum!
The complimentary taco chips and salsa was wonderful. Nice authentic salsa on the mild side.
We will be back!
We came back!
2nd Visit 8/20/23
We all had tacos. The fan favorites were
1. Carnitas Taco
2. Steak Carne Asada Taco
3. Shrimp Acapulco Taco
4. Gringo Taco
5. Baja Fish Taco (fried)
We did not enjoy these
1. Pork Belly Taco (too much fat)
2. Baja Fish Taco (grilled), too much charcoal flavor from grill)
Mexican corn (Esquites) and Plantains were still our favorite starters!
