I was a little skeptical of trying "Tex Mex" but we were going for a birthday ???? celebration and I have to say it was AMAZING! ????
The server was very nice and patient especially after a few of us modified our orders. The substitutions were greatly appreciated.
Food we ordered: Gabriella (veggies) & Crazy Nachos (full order) and both orders were super tasty. The nachos are actually prepared in individual tortilla chips which is pretty cool so everyone doesn't have to touch random chips. The Gabriella dish was very flavorful and served with a generous portion of veggies.
Atmosphere: Cool, laid back place. We sat at the horseshoe booths which were slightly elevated.
Service: All of the staff worked well together and kept a good eye on each table stopping by to pick up empty plates and refill water.
Service was great, but the food was just okay. Even the cocktails were kind of syrupy. It was a cozy atmosphere, and we were seated pretty quickly on a Saturday night. The food also came out pretty fast.
I didn’t understand the crowds at this restaurant for average to below average Tex Mex food. The experience began when our group of 10 arrived for our reservation. No record of it at all and deer in headlights looks on everyone’s face. They did find a place to put us, jamming two different kinds of tables together for an uncomfortable elbow to elbow seating. Only going to comment on the food my wife and I tried or had. We each had drinks and I must admit my Swirl was one of the smallest swirl drinks I have ever had and much of the small drink glass was taken up with a huge lime wedge. The guacamole Molcajete, which is prepared tableside was excellent and the server matched our requested level of spice. The queso was supermarket jar level, so a disappointment. The free salsa with the chips was quite good. My wife had the Maria, which is a selection of items and she said they were all good enough, but not great. I had the Poblano Ala Parilla with shrimp. It was the saddest, toughest, most overcooked, flavorless poblano I have ever had. If there was one and a half shrimp in it I would be surprised. On the side was a bowl of beans, or should I say a partially filled bowl of salty liquid with a few lonely beans at the bottom. The slaw on the side was good and the rice seemed like it probably came from a mix. I was highly disappointed. Service was slow and as I described in the beginning we were uncomfortable. In a metro area with hundreds of Tex Mex choices, this would be near the bottom for us.
I’ve been here before but somehow the food doesn’t taste the same anymore. Ordered Ricky’s tacos and chicken Fajita. Both dishes were okay. The dessert was the saving grace. The Coconut Palapa was simply delicious. Mildly sweet Coconut ice cream with the cinnamon tortilla was perfect for a hot summer evening. Loved it!
Stopped for a craving of beef fajita nachos. Great portions of steak and the server Carlos who was working the bar was very professional, fast with service, and super friendly. I will be back.
Stopped in for a brief lunch before an appointment. We ordered the queso blanco, crazy nachos, and caldo de Pollo.
Service was excellent. Resturant clean and atmosphere very nice.
Everything was to be expected with the food. The crazy nachos = ground beef nachos topped with melted cheese. Sour cream, guac, and jalapeños on the side. This was perfect for my daughter. Impossibleto make a mess. Mama approved. The Caldo de Pollo was packed with flavor. It was very good. I will get a bowl instead of a cup next time. The queso blanco was ok. The guac, in the plate, was better. I recommend this for a starter if you need one.
Excellent food and service. We were seated right away on a Saturday evening. Chips came out quickly, and our drinks didn't take long. The queso blanco is really good. The guacamole is made table-side and you can decide how spicy they make it.
Entrees are delicious, and we had plenty to take home. Chips and drinks were refilled promptly. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Would love to visit again!
A local favorite. Very good & consistent food. Service always helpful, efficient & friendly. The Mexican Dinner is hard to beat. One of my favorite Tex-Mex restaurants in the entire Metroplex.
