It's on the cheaper side of hotels near Disneyland, and I got what I paid for. The room was decorated very nicely albeit the small space given. The mini fridge and microwave worked. No counter space (for the ladies that do their makeup✨️). Walls are thin and no second lock. TV had plenty of options for free shows/movies. Wifi was good. No breakfast, but that's okay since you're very close to the parks. It was clean, no bed bugs. They even have a light sanitation system above the sink. The AC was lovely too. I'd stay here again for the same price, but no more.
We stayed at the Maingate Inn for a total of 2 nights for our Disney land trip.
The Maingate Inn provided excellent services, the receptionists were both lovely. The rooms were clean and recently renovated.
The location was absolutely perfect and only a 20min walk from the Disney gates. We will definitely stay here again if we go to Disneyland another time.
This place is terrible. Don’t bother spending your money here with all the other options in the same area.
1st off. This place looks like a beat down motel that was attempted to be remodeled but in reality was done poorly. The parking is limited and the area is sketch.
About the rooms. The rooms are advertised with queen size beds but are full size. So be aware just so you aren’t surprised. We booked a two “queen size beds” room for 4 people but only provided 3 towels and 2 rolls of toilet paper. The TV size is basically a computer monitor about 27 inches. The sink gets backed up. And by day 2, the whole room smelled like sewage. The rooms aren’t providing an iron or blow dryer. So make sure you prepare for this ahead of time.
And of course when we tried to call the front desk about this, they wouldn’t answer.
Great price, great location, and great service! I have been staying here for years and now its even better. The rooms are all renovated with a bunch of upgrades. We had the new bunkbed room this time and my kid loved it! We always liked that you can easily walk to the park or tram, whichever you prefer. The owner and staff have excellent customer service. I highly recommend staying here!
This place was great!!! It was super affordable, very, very close to the Disney parks and staff were very accommodating and friendly. I would stay here again! The staff also held my suit case after I checked out so I could do one more Disney day and I came back before my flight to pick it up. So kind and very accommodating
Pros: the staff, the room was huge and very comfy, had new towels and empty garbages daily (I don't even get that at the Hyatt unless I ask), super close to Disney for Lyft or walking, I stayed alone and felt safe and comfortable in the area.
Cons: room have a very strong cleaning chemical smell when I got in, I had to open the windows and run the fan to help. It's on a busy and very loud road and it often woke me through the night. It's not super close to any place to eat. There was no plug for the shower to make a bath or way to draw a bath. There was not a protector on the mattress and a flat sheet used as a bottom sheet and I would have liked a full bed protector on the mattress.
As noted by other guests: the curtains were covered in paint and has missing handles. There was no extra blankets or pillows if needed. The bathroom absolutely lack counter space but I was able to make due. I don't iron so no need for that and I got a hair dryer at check and returned it at check out without issue. It was clear the renovations were mostly done and still very much in the works. The hot water wasn't hot and takes a really long time to warm up.
Overall this hotel was a great, great stay and I will recommend this hotel to other as well as book and stay here again.
The AC was awful. For some reason it glowed a purple black light that could not be turned off even if the unit was totally off. The purple glow made our white sheets light up and glow. It was like sleeping in a rave. Picture of bed included. The AC made gurgling noises, kept icing up, and didn’t seem to be working. The last night we woke up from a sleep due to it being 78 in the room and being so hot. We ended up changing rooms and the staff was always very helpful when needed. The AC light is just a horrible design for a small room with the purple light. When we switched rooms the AC seemed to work better but still had a bright light.
You can tell the rooms were recently renovated. While the renovations looked nice not practical. There is no counter space at all so there is nowhere to put all your bathroom stuff or anything. No hooks on the doors for your towels. All little things I’ve never noticed before because the hotel always has them seemed to be missing. The second room we stayed our last night was the same. Unfortunately all the renovations seem to be a waste of money due to the oversight on a lot of it.
Also google maps shows you can walk south through a parking lot to get to the Disney public parking lot which then takes you to downtown Disney, so it seems very close to the park. This was inaccessible and inaccurate on googles part. What showed as a walking path was cast member parking only and had no access to walk through to the public. So if you’re walking to Disney you have to go a longer way which is about a 20 minute walk into the east end of downtown Disney. You then have to walk the whole length of downtown Disney to get to the entrance of the parks. This hotel ended up being a bust. We will go to the tried and true Motel 6 next time for sure.
2 mile walk from the room to the gates of DL. You can also walk to Mickey and Friends to catch the tram. Office staff was nice and helpful. Room clean and nicely updated with a mini fridge and microwave! Prefect for what I needed a place to rest and shower after a full day in both parks. Would recommend to friends/ family and would stay here again.
If you just need a place to rest your head after a day doing touristy things, this will do nicely. It doesn't have much in the way of amenities (eg: no pool), but my room was spacious (especially the bathroom) and clean. Can be a bit noisy and on-site parking is neither free nor abundant. It's a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Disney parking structure where you can take the tram the rest of the way to Downtown Disney and the parks.
