Best WLM Reviews
The food was spectacular, but the service was terrible. They were short staffed, but the servers mixed our orders up and it took them a very long time to fix it. They ended up charging us for the food they mixed up. As for the food, it might be the best japanese place i've ever been to. Fantastic tonkotsu ramen and beef stir fry.
My wife and I dined her for the first time last night. We were greeted we we entered and decided to sit at the sushi bar. Our waitress greeted us and was very friendly . The menu is quite large but easy to navigate. I was glad to see that they had Saba on the menu " mackerel " it's one if my favorites and hard to find in knoxville. We ordered our sushi and a large warm saki. The service was very good and our sushi looked good and tasted even better! I was very happy with what I ordered including the Anaba roll! I would definitely recommend. We will be returning!
Anaba Japanese offers a delightful array of authentic Japanese cuisine that is definitely worth trying. I started with the crunchy shrimp sushi as an appetizer. I initially thought the shrimp would be fried, but it was raw, with a crunchy sprinkle on the outside of the roll. It was an interesting twist, though not what I expected.
For my entree, I had the teriyaki chicken with fried rice, served in a "fajita" style dish. The platter was very hot, which kept the food warm, but I personally prefer a traditional serving. The generous amount of teriyaki sauce made the dish quite runny and the rice soggy. A bit less sauce would have improved the texture. I paired my meal with a refreshing lemonade.
My partner ordered the eel and octopus sushi, which he found decent and filling. He particularly enjoyed his green tea, noting its authentic and rich flavor.
Overall, despite some minor preferences, the experience at Anaba Japanese Grill was positive. I look forward to giving this restaurant another chance to further explore their extensive and intriguing menu!
Definitely worth a visit and we will be back. Mondays, tuna rolls half price and Tuesdays, salmon rolls half price. Very fresh sushi. Service was great.
Server was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant was clean and the noise level was very pleasant.
Pretty disappointed with the quality of the tonkotsu ramen. They were out of the chashu pork so I opted for the basic chicken version. The chicken was overdone and chewy, absolutely flavorless. The noodles were also far too soft, overcooked. The broth, however, was wonderful so it almost made up for the other parts.
Also got the gyoza and a half shrimp tempura roll. Both were amazing. The gyoza was the stand out dish for me.
The food was outstanding. I ordered the Smoky Mountain, avocado, and smoked salmon rolls. I was so full by the end. I'm definitely going back there! Highly recommend.
Absolutely delicious food. The Double Dynamite Roll and Chasu Pork Miso Ramen were fantastic. Im very excited to visit again to try more items on the menu
Food other than house salad (why is the bottom of the bowl all water and why are the tomatoes white?!) is stellar. Service hit or miss. Last time I was there had to beg for my drink and new water. It sat at the bar for
Atleast 30 minutes while server carried on with her coworkers.
Atmosphere is grungy and unappealing and every time I’ve been recently they won’t let me sit on the more pleasant patio.
I’d recommend miso soup (sooo good)
Sashimi, sushi or Hibachi. Avoid the salad. And don’t expect a clean or nice atmosphere
Of photo is my most recent dinner or a deconstructed spring roll (thanks for accommodating me!!) minus some allergins. It was delicious and this, miso and sashimi are my new go to’s. Used to get the salad but last time with all the water at the bottom, never again. (My husband loves the carrot ginger dressing)
Thanks for your response. We will definitely be back its bar far our favorite Japanese food town. We actually went three weeks in a row and have plans with friends a couple of weeks from now.
Maybe I'll give the salad another try.
