I came in last night after taking my boys to a movie and the service was absolutely terrible. We came in at 9:30, so the store was still open for another 30 minutes but the girl at the counter was SO annoyed when we walked in. Note that someone walked out when we got there and a group of people walked in right behind us so we weren’t the only ones there. We already knew what we wanted and just got two tiny cups with one flavor and one topping - they didn’t even mix them up! She just scooped in the ice cream to the cup and then scooped the topping on top. This defeats the whole purpose of going to this brand! They didn’t even hand us the ice cream or say anything to use when they were ready, they were placed on opposite sides of the counter so we had to walk in front of the people ordering to grab them, after we had already paid and out of line. My boys were so disappointed, we picked our movie time specifically so we could come by here afterwards and it was an absolute waste of money. We could literally go to McDonald’s and get a cone for 1/4 the price and way better service.
I love Amy's ice cream! They can get kind of busy sometimes but service has always been friendly. Some of the staff are super knowledgeable and professional, while others are less so but I've never had an incorrect order or rude service. Things like the Quote trivia are a fun touch. There's technically a ton of parking here since it's in the middle of South Park Meadows but there's not a ton of parking very nearby. This location has been super hot recently so I'm wondering if maybe there's a problem with their A/C but otherwise it's a fun, capable Austin staple. I will voice one minor concern with Amy's in general, which is that all of their ice cream seems to have ice chunks in it. I don't know if they don't scrape the freezers or if they scrape them with the ice cream barrels open but every time I get ice cream instead of a shake, I end up biting into ice at least once. It's a small price to pay but it seems like a fixable issue
Was dying to cool down from the heat with ice cream. Service and ice cream was great. Air inside was 86 or so looking at the thermostat. Quite warm while trying to enjoy ice cream inside.
I came in on 8.29 around 9:45PM and I have to absolutely say how incredible the team was - it was 3 of them and I didn’t get their names unfortunately but that was the most top tier experience with customer service. I’m fascinated by their kindness and politeness even after I came in so close to closing time.
team was freaking incredible and please recognize them in any way shape or form because they deserve it. I made sure to thank them in store but you guys ABSOLUTELY need to know the incredible customer service they just provided
I wanted a pint and it seems like this location doesn’t have a pint freezer and without ANY hesitation they asked what kind of pint i wanted and that they would make it for me on the spot. PLEASE GET THESE AMAZING PEOPLE A PINT FREEZER!!!!
Best ice cream in Austin. Good spot they have both indoor and outdoor seating. Service was quick. My favorite is belgian chocolate
Great ice cream place, altho pretty pricey relative to "less hip" alternatives. Big selection of usual and tasty ice cream flavors. Generally young and perky staff who bring great attitude to their work. This particular location is cramped for an ice cream parlor -- narrow and very deep, so customer traffic frequently stretches out the front door and spills out the back. OK in summer, but less optimal in colder or rainy weather.
I have been a fan of Amy's for over 30 years! I always get the same order in a waffle cone. Ice cream was great, but waffle cone was not what I was use to. Not as thick or sweet. Appears standards are different across the different Amy's.
I must be an outlier with my experience but I ordered the berries berries berries special and this was the most disappointing experience I’ve ever had with ice cream. The ice cream tasted freezer burnt, the brownie was hard and not even hot, and the hot fudge was almost solid and not runny. To spare further details, 20 minutes after this experience, I faced very uncomfortable stomach pain and am not even lactose intolerant. Will never come back..
