Amy’s Bread was a must try since I’m a huge fan of anything sourdough. Overall, it wasn’t my best costumer serving experience or waiting time for ordering and paying but the product was very tasty and earned a 3 star. The cinnamon raisin bagel was decent and tastes great with cream cheese.
Have been here twice. It always smells fresh and there a variety of options.
Have gotten the olive bread, was decent. Also got the challah twist knot, it was fresh and nice.
Would like to try the desserts for sure the next time.
Amy's Bread is within the Chelsea Market (see photos), on 9th Avenue between 15th and 16th Streets. Taxis are easily accessible from there to get you to your next destination. I had the banana cake ($7.08 including tax) which, as a whole, was very good. The flavor of the cake had a pleasing banana taste (as it should), while the white frosting, which was tasty, did not enhance the cake because its pleasing flavor was strong and blocked out the flavor of the cake when the two were together on the fork. The few nuts on top of it had no taste.
A few weeks later I tried their butterscotch cashew bar, pictured ($5.00). The butterscotch flavor was strong and pleasing, but there was almost no contrast of flavor with the cashews because most of them had no recognizable flavor, as was with the nuts on the banana cake mentioned above.
Beautiful bakery with many different options of bread and pastries! I had the sticky bun and it was pretty good (wasn’t too sweet).
The best cakes and baked goods period! I recommend their carrot cake and coconut cake.
We love coming to Amy’s Bread! We come here for their wonderful breads and desserts as well as their excellent coffees. They happen to make outstanding chocolate sourdough and challah sticks! They also have wonderful sandwiches and salads. However, it’s their staff that I really appreciate. Chris and Mohammed were working when I came in on a very hot summer afternoon. Chris recommended that I get a homemade iced decaf coffee and Mohammed suggested trying their homemade lemonade. I decided to buy both along with Amy’s Semolina Raisin & Fennel bread and a couple of Amy’s chocolate challah twists! Amy’s Bread has become a New York treasure and has consistently provided great breads and phenomenal desserts.
Very cozy place! We ordered to go so unfortunately we didn't get the chance to fully experience the place's vibe. We had a cream cheese and a PB&J bagel, plus a coffee. The bagels were tasty with a nice texture, and the filling quantity was well balanced.
Many years ago when I started to learn how to bake I took out The Amy’s Bread cookbook from the library and I was amazed that there were so many recipes for all kinds of baked goods. I told myself I would always go to the bakery one day and see for myself. I was awestruck of all the baked goods. I got a Devil’s food cupcake because I live for chocolate. I got two chocolate sourdough rolls because I’ve never seen a pastry like that before and I got a pistachio croissant for my best friend.
