The entire place was clean quiet and cozy. I appreciate the plugs at each bed and the free coffee was great. Friendly helpful staff. Would recommend to anyone. Best deal if you travel alone. Remember if you feel the need to luck stuff bring your own lock. Also cash for the room key deposit
This place is and excellent Hostel to stay, clean and well ubicated. They have a kitchen, and ATM, washing machines and a vending machine with snack. The rooms are big and comfortable, with a nice bathroom and perfect for a stay with your family or friends
I stayed one night, arriving after 11pm and collapsing into the well-appointed bunk directly on arrival. Late check-in service was friendly and convenient.
The room and bathroom were clean, comfortable, and pleasant. There are drawers beneath the beds to secure your things, so do bring a padlock. The front desk also offers a bag-check so you can explore unencumbered.
My only critique is that the location is in the heart of the city and the windows were open to allow a breeze, and this made the constant traffic noise much more intrusive. Perhaps not as much a concern if you're travelling during the cooler months or if you're already used to city noise.
All told, the value was stupendous and I'll certainly try to stay here again the next time I'm in town.
Hello everyone. In my opinion, this is one of the cleanest and most pleasant hostels in America that I've ever stayed at. There's a great area here where you can have lunch. There are three floors filled with interesting, friendly people to chat with, and the atmosphere encourages it. What else can I add? Compared to other places I've been to in San Francisco and America, there's just no comparison.
Most of my stays have been pretty good but my last one was just bizarre. First I couldn't checked in because of shift change, then the key machine was broken, ok that got fixed. I come into the room all the beds appeared taken. Turned out someone who was supposed to be checked out was in the bed and had said something weird and left the room long enough for them to change the bedding for me. She was able to let herself back into the room to bother me. Huge security issue.
ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED
I booked this hostel for the Christmas season well in advance through Agoda, specifically reserving a single room for myself. To my shock, I was later informed—only when I called to inquire—that they had unilaterally downgraded me to a 6-bed mixed dormitory without any prior notification.
This is completely unacceptable. I planned early to secure both availability and a good deal, yet just 15 days before my trip, I’m being informed of this mess. Whether it’s the fault of Agoda or the hostel, the lack of professionalism and customer care is glaring.
Downgrading a customer without notice is not just poor service; it’s outright disrespectful. I would not recommend this place to anyone expecting reliability or courtesy.
The one star is just for courtesy if only there was negative rating.
Very disappointed with how my case was handled at this hostel. Having booked months in advance we had been so excited to see San Francisco. Unfortunately we had some troubles at the airport meaning our flight was delayed 3 days. Gutted. The whole way through these delays I was in communication with staff at the hostel who had told me my room was being held and not to worry with absolutely no indication that we were being charged. Unfortunately we only got one night in the hostel yet individually they billed us for each night despite my being in contact with them throughout. When talking to staff at the front desk who I appreciate is not responsible for this, it was always “passed on” and we were never able to speak to the manager. All the money has come out for this hostel and the communication was so poor. I feel I have to share this experience because the way it was handled was completely unfair and we wished we had just cancelled instead of loosing all this money, whilst paying for a hotel in Auckland whilst stuck.
Amsterdam hostel exceeded my expectations! The staff was welcoming, the rooms were clean and cozy, and the location was perfect—close to attractions yet peaceful. I loved the social atmosphere with great activities to connect with other travelers. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended!
