New to the area so wanted to check out this neighborhood staple. We came for lunch around 1130am and were the first ones in line. The staff all were wearing masks and gloves. We ordered the chicken breast club on whole wheat and the Amphora burger. As others have mentioned the portions are a really good size. I was able to save half of my chicken breast club sandwich for another meal. The french fries were tasty but definitely too greasy. I look forward to coming back here to try the desserts.
A good place to make your regular spot! This old style diner was welcoming and accommodating. The breakfast food was delicious and can make you nostalgic. The owner and the employees are so friendly, they make you think you go there all the time. They also know how to treat you on your birthday to a scrumptious slice of cake that you want to keep eating even when your full. The variety of drinks is also impressive, the tiramisu drink will make you want to come back just for it. This is a spot to give a try once and crave to come back!
I mean the place looked nice, it was clean. Smelled a little funny when you first walk in but that went away once you walked further into the resturant. The kids cups were so flimsy that my son ended up spilling it all over. And it was not because he is little. He can drink from a cup just fine. The food wasnt that great either. The mac n cheese is literally a box of craft mac n cheese that you can but at giant or any other grocery store. The shepard's pie.. well I wouldn't call it shepard's pie at all. Just some meat with potatoes and a boat load of cheese on top. The bean soup isn't just bean soup either, its bean soup plus everything but the kitchen sink. Also my salad dressing looked old and tasted funny, it was not runny or even remotely looked like any salad dressing I've seen..ever. Our waiter also was very friendly. He seemed to just want to hurry us out the door. So if I have my way I wont be coming back. It's a shame too because I heard good things about this place.
Great place for a breakfast lunch or dinner. Good prices and good food. Has been an anchor restaurant in Vienna for many many years. If you want a decent meal at a decent price cannot go wrong at Amphora.
Sweet place to get food 24*7. It was one of the only restaurants that offered normal dine in in new year's eve(though the options were limited). But other days you can choose from a wide variety of menu. Me being a vegetarian could find great number of choices. I liked their pita hummus platter, Alfredo Pasta l, spinach ravioli pasta and coffee. My friends who opted for other non vegetarian or pancakes options enjoyed the meal too.
They have a huge booklet as menu with probably over fifty totally different options to choose from!
Food was good and prices are reasonable. The only negative was long wait. They were seriously under staffed.
I go there often when I'm in town. Usually the food is delicious. This time the breakfast was average and the Islander I ordered was half the portion it normally was.
Lunch at Amphora is like visited a dinner of long ago.
I lunched on Meatloaf with mashed potatoes, Broccoli and mushroom gravy. Large, delicious dish.
My wife ordered the Blintzes came with sour cream and strawberry topping. Delicious.
Recommend both.
