Best WLM Reviews

This is a hole in a wall place, with authentic old And Golden Era pictures of monarchs of Iran. The decor is filled with authentic picture of the King and Queen and Crown Prince of Iran. The food was amazing. We ordered Tah Deeg with Ghormeh Sabzi , kabob Torsh and Koobideh. It all was heavenly. The wine is was so delicious and bought some to take home to Texas with me! If you are looking for an authentic iranian experience you have to try Amoo.
Our visit to Amoo’s Restaurant was disappointing, with service that felt rushed, making us uncomfortable from the start. Instead of the fresh, homemade bread typically found in Persian restaurants, they served frozen, store-bought bread you can find in bulk anywhere, paired with basic butter and a cilantro sauce. They decided to serve all our orders as a family-style meal without asking, which wasn’t our preference. The food itself was initially warm but quickly turned cold, with the Ghormeh Sabzi was runny and lacking flavor and the rice tasting bland and rushed. The Kobideh was decent, but the high prices and unremarkable atmosphere don't justify the experience. There are better Persian dining options nearby.
I recently dined at Amoo’s Restaurant and had an outstanding experience. The Persian cuisine here is top-notch, with the Lamb Soltani being a standout dish—perfectly cooked, tender, and flavorful. The tea was delightful, offering a soothing complement to the meal. And the ice cream? Absolutely lit! It’s the perfect sweet finish to a fantastic dining experience. The ambiance is cozy, and the service is attentive, making Amoo’s a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Persian flavors.
Highly recommended!
Absolutely LOVE this place! The hummus was so tasty and the egg plant. We had the Mohicheh (lamb shank), Chicken Cornish Saltoni and Lamb Loin Fillet! The atmosphere was very nice and the staff is amazing! Would highly recommend this Persian restaurant!
This was our first time and it was absolutely amazing. Amoo (the owner) is so kind and the restaurant genuinely has that family but chic atmosphere. I picked this specific Persian restaurant for their vegetarian section on their menu and it did not disappoint. My friend got the vegetarian koobideh and he couldn’t believe he wasn’t eating real meat. I got the kabob koobideh and it was so juicy and tender. It was overall great and I recommend this place to anyone who wants to try authentic Persian food.
For years I have traveled the country full-time in an RV. We have eaten some amazing food in our travels but this place is one of our favorites in the whole country. We will detour by 3-4+ hours to make sure we eat at Amoo's. I'm always worried that it won't live up to my memory but they never disappoint.
I'd like to offer menu suggestions for Persian food novices. Number one, ask your waiter for suggestions. I've never been disappointed by their suggestions and the workers here treat you like family. These portions come with plenty of food and we usually order for the table and share. Menu suggestions for novices:
-- pita bread and hummus. It's good hummus. Try any of their other dips.
---Tahdig + mihicheh- this is a pan crisped rice with a lamb shank that is seasoned and cooked to utter perfection. This dish is magical. Even if you're not a lamb lover-- give this a go.
--Koobideh- the menu says this is ground beef but it is SO much more! This is a long kabob of the most tender, flavorful "meatball" you've ever had.
--Lamb soltani-- you get the koobideh kabob and a lamb kabob with this plating. If you like lamb, give it a try.
--saffron chicken-- this is a nice subtle flavored kabob of chicken, this is the least adventurous option for shy American pallettes but still very good.
--Shirin polo-- if you feel adventurous, upgrade your rice to this fancy rice
--drink: Doogh-- this is a savoury yogurt drink that you have to try at least once in your life. I've tried several around the country now and I like Amoo's best. Many people love the Saffron tea-- haven't tried it because I don't do black tea but if Doogh isn't your thing-- try this.
--- dessert: GET THE SAFFRON ICE CREAM!!! Life changing. We have asked to ship it across the country and they said "sure, we get that request more than you would expect".
If you don't like anything after you try these menu suggestions-- you don't like Persian food. And I am sad for you.
Our second visit to this restaurant after a number of years and unfortunately we feel like the flavors are not what they used to be. We ordered a good variety of dishes and even though everything was ok, nothing met our expectations considering how popular and well established this place is. We had the gheymeh, most- o-hiar, koobideh kabob, lamb shank, and fesenjoon. I guess every dish resembles homemade cooking but when you go to a restaurant you expect that extra touch that makes it special. The Persian ice cream was delicious though, very creamy with lots of crushed pistachios. Also, the service and the portions deserve a separate mention as they are excellent.

On our way from the Great Falls VA to DC, google maps suggested this along the way, and we decided to stop in for something different.
Saffron Iced Tea and Saffron Hot Tea
Both were delicious, so refreshing.
Kashk Bademjan Dip - Yogurt Eggplant Dip
This was so good, spreading it on the bread.
Mahicheh with Tahdig - Lamb Shank with bottom of the pot rice aka Concon aka Pegao
Of course hubby had to get the rice, his Dominican blood would not stand for him to pass this up LOL. And he loved it.
Cornish Hen with Baghali Polo
They cut the Cornish Hen up for easy eating. I love that! It's so small and hard to eat when whole. Lima Bean rice was delicious.
I'm so sad they are so far away. I would love to try everything on the menu!
