Best WLM Reviews
This is a self serve restaurant with disposable cutlery - just a PSA, didn't bother us! We tried the South Indian thali, the vada and the Mysore masala dosa. The dosa was great, the chutney tasted a bit stale (made in the morning perhaps) for the first round of dosa, but was on point for the second round (probably a new batch). The vada was reheated but tasted great, thali was good value for money as well. The paysam was amazing, highly recommend! Parking was easy and free, there were spots in front of the restaurant.
We ordered for delivery. We have been happy in the past, but this time the dosas were very spicy and barely filled. For 10+ dollars I could have gotten substantial food elsewhere. Very disappointing
Amma's Vegetarian is a fantastic spot for authentic South Indian food that doesn’t break the bank. The standout dishes include the onion chilly masala dosa, which is perfectly crisp with just the right amount of spice, and the cutlet, which is fried to perfection—crispy on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside. Pair these with their classic filter coffee, and you’ve got a meal that feels like a warm hug from home.
The pricing is refreshingly reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. The flavors are authentic, and the portions are generous, making it a favorite for vegetarians and fans of South Indian cuisine alike.
The ambiance feels a bit dated and could benefit from an upgrade to enhance the overall dining experience. Additionally, the cleanliness could be a notch better, especially during peak hours.
All in all, Amma's is a go-to for comforting South Indian vegetarian fare.
Had dinner on April 28, seemed like a good home style food joint until the food came out. Or should I say we had to keep on getting up from the table to get our food items that were called out by order number, spoiling the dining experience. Now for the food review: Chole Bathura was pretty tasty and so was the Tomato Peas Uttappam. However, the rest of the food like Dahi Vada was way too sour; Masala Dosa was burnt, sambhar was decent, non spicy; Curd Rice was also too sour with broken left over rice, you can see the photos. Saving grace for curd rice was replacement with Idli Sambhar takeout, which tasted really average the next day. Lastly, the place needs a renovation, brighter lighting to take good food photos, men’s bathroom light kept turning off.
The wait was a bit long, but it was definitely worth it. The food was absolutely delicious.
Good South Indian style food. Simple yummy and healthy. Good collection of dosas, sambar etc. mango lassi is very good. Ample parking outside and washroom access. Staff is good.
We checked this place when we were in DC for the Cherry blossoms. We did a pickup order for our dinner and it didn’t take a lot of time for the food to be ready by the time we arrived at the restaurant.
The food quality was very good and the packaging was excellent. Saw quite a number of people enjoying their dinner and also an equal number of people waiting to get their order picked up.
Wish the interior cleanliness of the place matched what was offered on the outside.
I recently dined at Amma Vege Kitchen and it was a delightful experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the staff were incredibly attentive and friendly. The highlight, however, was the dosa—each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend the chili dosa which was an absolute standout. I’ll definitely be returning soon!
