Best WLM Reviews

The wife and I stopped in at Amigos for an early dinner simply because of the margarita flights! We always like to try something new and someone else suggested the margarita flights and we were NOT disappointed. Margarita flavors Ive never had were amazing!
We ordered and shared one plate of food because neither were very hungry. We shared the Amigos Taco Puffs. We had one beef and one chicken. The taco puff shell is similar to that of a fried taco salad bowl, but in taco shape. The shells are great! Then chicken and taco puffs were Served with black beans, rice, guacamole and sour cream! The chicken was amazing! The beef.... not so much. The beef was dried out like it had been microwaved and was tough.
No condiments, salt/pepper, etc are in the tables and you have to ask for it.
The atmosphere was top notch! Table, booth, and outdoor seating are available.
Parking is easy right in front, or there is a free parking lot right across the street.
I give Amigos 8.75 out of 10 overall.
What could be better:
-Waitress could come around a little more often to check on people.
-Seasonings and condiments being available on the table would be nice so you dont have to wait for a waitress or go find one.
-I suggest finding an alternative way of heating the beef so that it doesnt dry out.
The menu has all the standard Mexican dishes and the food is tasty, and I like the ambiance. Pretty fiesta-ish. The service is solid, and prices are right in line. The back patio is great in the Spring and Fall! It's also ideally located for strolling the many cool shops in Kirkwood.
This place is a must try! Initially arriving we had to wait about 5 minutes to be greeted by a hostess. The margaritas while not able to be served pitcher style like most Mexican restaurants was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS and strong worth the price. The server suggested the 3amigos and I ate everything on the plate. The server was quick and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was well seasoned, fresh and hot when it arrived to the table. The side of beans, rice, pico and guacamole were very nice added touches. I’m already excited about next months outing we will be back!
A decent Mexican spot. St. Louis has lots of great Mexican food so it’s hard to compare to a lot of them. The stuffed poblano pepper here is amazing and the flavors are so different! But I wouldn’t rave about the fajitas or burrito that we ordered. I would recommend stopping in for a margarita and an appetizer!
Would definitely recommend. I hope they expand to the city!
We got the queso to start which was not great. Kind of tastes like a gravy. Very thick and has pepper in it? Not a fan personally, but that’s just us.
I got the fajita quesadilla with no veggies inside. The order came out perfectly no problems and was so good!
My husband got the meat lovers tacos and said they were pretty good. The steak was his favorite.
The waitress was very nice and attentive.
Will definitely be coming back!
The BEST Mexican restaurant I have been to in the St. Louis area! The atmosphere is very cozy, unique and kinda Hip! The service is outstanding and the bartender we had, Wolfgang, was very personable, outgoing and got to know our names!! Who does that!?!? We got a table for eight within 15 minutes of having a drink at the bar! We will be back.
Venue: Nice interior, small patio. I’d recommend sitting inside, though it does get pretty noisy.
Chips/Salsa: The chips and salsa both taste fresh, but the salsa has very little flavor. It mostly tastes like plain tomatoes – not nearly enough cilantro, onions, or other spices.
Food: The chimichanga has queso on top as is expected, but it’s not queso blanco like most places have. It’s more of a small portion of yellowish cheese sauce that wasn’t particular good. I had hoped to substitute corn cake for my side of beans (since it’s cheaper anyway), but they said the only substitution I could do was more rice, so I did that.
Margaritas: My traditional margarita was pretty good, but I would have preferred it to be served in a traditional glass with salted rim. My wife got a frozen strawberry margarita and said it tastes artificial – clearly from a pre-mix.
Service: Fine overall, but I ordered a beer halfway through my meal which never came. My waitress said she saw it get poured and then it disappeared. Oh well.
Overall: Not bad, but the search for our go-to Mexican restaurant will continue.
They are not your run of the mill Mexican restaurant. Their recipes are unique and flavorful. We had the stuffed poblano it was unlike anything I’ve had at any other place it was very good
