Understaffed and disgusting. The poor attendant at the food counter was swamped with taking orders while his partner was in the back. I tried 2x to buy a drink at the deserted bar before the kid taking orders was able to assist. The bathrooms were DISGUSTING! Clearly no one had attended them for hours if not all day. Management of this place should be ashamed. Definitely won’t be returning.
**Worst Experience Ever! Avoid This Place!**
I can't even begin to express how terrible our experience at AMF Margate was. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with disdain and a complete lack of professionalism. When we first walked in, the rude guy at the front desk told me all the lanes were occupied. Fine, no problem. I put my name on the waiting list and we started waiting.
After 30 minutes, I asked again and was told to keep waiting. I could see open lanes, but he kept telling me they weren't available and that he'd call me when one was. I went back three more times, and after two hours of waiting, I had enough. I saw some people leave a lane and asked if we could use it, but he told me again it wasn’t available.
I finally snapped and demanded an explanation. Only then, after two hours of waiting with a one-year-old child and my family, did he bother to tell me that there was a tournament happening and we wouldn’t be able to play until it was over. WHY didn’t he tell us that when we first arrived?! This was an outrageous lack of respect.
We were just looking to have a good time and ended up having a miserable, stressful night. On top of this awful experience, the place itself is old, rundown, and clearly not well-maintained, with staff that couldn’t care less about their customers. I’m writing this review in complete frustration and disbelief at how that guy was able to treat a family with a baby like that. Absolutely zero stars.
Avoid this place at all costs!
This is a great place to have an outing with your family and friends! A great place to enjoy laughter together. It's a bit high priced but worth seeing your children's faces full of smiles.
During what seems to be the busy time on a Saturday night, they only had one person taking the orders and assigning lanes. The food is decent better than I thought but of course overpriced. Lastly they are extremely understaffed because everything you wanted to do was at least a 25 minute wait. From ordering your lanes, ordering your food, ordering beer and getting shoes. Just get more employees.
Horrible place. Went at 7pm since it was unlimited bowling. However all the lanes were being used by the bowling league. No family night here. Went to Bowlero on Southgate and University. Much nicer there and they had available lanes for my 3 kiddos.
Friendly staff, a few ball return issues in the pit aside on lane 28, the lanes and other equipment were in good condition, and center was impeccably clean (having working in a bowling center myself in the past, I know that’s no easy feat!).
Rates were quite reasonable for a weekend evening for two people!
Didn’t visit concession stand (ate before coming) and arcade (it was getting late when we finished) but will definitely check those areas out next time I visit!
Pro Shop on site but it looks like they are running by appointment only or irregular hours, so they were closed at the time of my visit, otherwise I might have had them work on one of my personal bowling balls.
All in all, I would happily return to bowl here again next time I’m in FL!
I can’t talk enough about this place! We’ve been multiple times as a work outing and every time the staff is beyond helpful, efficient, and accommodating. The last time we went there we were waiting for lanes with a big group, & kiarra the manager noticed two lanes not being used & out of order, so she out of her way to help us and fix the issue with the lanes so we could start bowling, Jessica and Mercedes also made sure our food was made to order and made sure everything was to our liking. Everything tasted fresh & great! We love this place and can’t wait to continue doing our work team outings here, i’ll also be bringing family & friends whenever i need a nice place to bowl ????
Pros: "No smoking facility", appears to be family friendly, there's a small arcade, a couple pool tables, and they serve hot fast food.
Cons: staff is young and was on their phone most of the time, they did not want to assist us when we asked about open lanes. Besides the staff working to serve and cook the food and cleaning the table, the other staff were on their phones. There were young children pulling on wires at the arcade and staff watched as they did it. When lanes became open, customers were told that as long as the tables behind the lanes were occupied, no one could use the lanes. I like this place better when it was Brunswick. I won't be coming back.
