First I’d like to thank all the staff members at Ameristar who took care of me while I was in town. From Crystal “Executive Host” on down to the hotel staff Danica, Megan, Arrika, Regine, and Linette. I know my spelling may be off on a couple of the names but you ladies were so very helpful when I came to visit and I greatly appreciate it. I was traveling to town for an emergency event and I couldn’t be more pleased with how personable the staff were. I was traveling alone so it was nice to be able to come down and chat with them from time to time. I will however tell you that it’s cold this time of year so I had to call about extra blankets since I’m coming from Texas to Indiana. Thank you for your hospitality. The care was greatly appreciated
Enjoyed my time here. I don't gamble so my wallet enjoyed the time also.
Spent time with my sister for her birthday dinner here and to watch the Tyson fight.
The hotel rooms are gorgeous.
The food was delicious.
The bar atmosphere was spectacular for the fight. I don't drink but people were happily served.
All that's missing is the music entertainers they used to have.
I don't know where to start about how bad this place is now. I'll start with the handicapped parking. The spaces are no bigger than a normal parking space. If you need to get someone out of a car in a wheel chair you've got to stop in the lane of traffic blocking everyone behind you. Next is the smell of weed in the parking lot. Seems like everyone is smoking that before going in. The casino itself is old and outdated. They are trying to remodel it but that's just causing one big mess. Right now the whole top floor is closed. All of the machines I liked to play are gone now. They completely got rid of them. Some places are extremely hot and others are freezing cold. They need to control temp better. The absolute worst part of going there is the cigarette smoke. It's absolute intolerable. It's hard to breathe in there because of all the smoke. We left there drenched in the smell of cigarette smoke. You need to decicate a whole floor for non-smoking guests with the popular games in it. Not like the no smoking section you have now with extremely old games that nobody plays anymore. Until changes are made we will not be going back there.
Rooms look great and are clean with great bathrooms, but the two beds in my room feel like they are about 20 years old. The springs are so crushed down, the bed feels like sleeping in a salad bowl.
That's my only complaint though. I'd stay again, But insist on a room with newer beds.
We rented a room for three nights. The atmosphere was really nice. Rooms and surroundings were execptional.
The only thing that I had an issue on was the service. I called to schedule room cleaning for the next day and it was never done. We stood there three nights and it was not cleaned once. Oh, and yes, I did take the "do not disturb" sign off. The only time I had it on was when we were in the room. The only complaint I had was the overall customer service.
Clean Room, a little worn but well within acceptable standards. Staff at check in, Sportsbook restaurant and Rewards counter, pleasant and helpful. Wife and I both had better luck on the slot machines here than on our trips to Vegas. We will be back and plan on checking out more Penn properties for some weekend getaways.
Well it has an interesting outdated 80s vibe with stale beer and cigarette smell in the casino ???? the staff that I interacted with were friendly, and the bartender at the sports book was amazing. Will say never lost money so fast at a casino. I joined my wife while she had a work meeting in the area. She would stay again with the cost and proximity to the customer.
The hotel is a hidden paradise in the armpit of America. The staff is always friendly, the rooms are always clean, and the wifi is always on. Just like we can't choose our parents, this hotel couldn't help it's location. Try to ignore the bullet holes in the directional signs to the Ameristar, and have a nice stay!
