We needed a place to stay that was decently close to Mount Rushmore (maybe 35-40 minutes away), affordable, and had a waterslide so our autistic son could decompress each night - and this fit the bill. Right beside the interstate, lots of restaurants reasonably close by, plus some big stores if you needed to buy any extra snacks and stuff. Mini golf was within walking distance, too. Overall, I felt the property looked reasonably clean and taken care of. The breakfast wasn't the most extensive, but I didn't come with high expectations of that, and it was adequate for us. We had a 2 king plus sofa bed room for 5 of us. Nice large bathroom with two showers. The only down side was that the sofa bed wasn't that great, even for just a kid, at least in the room that we had. We didn't want to complain though, as the price was lower here than at neighboring properties at the time of our stay. If we were back in the Rapid City area again, we'd consider coming back.
I recently stayed at here and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to previous experiences. In the past, this hotel stood out for its cleanliness and welcoming touches, but I was disappointed this time. The room and common areas did not feel as clean or well-maintained as they have in the past.
Additionally, the check-in experience used to include a complimentary non-alcoholic beverage, which I appreciated as a nice start to the stay. However, they’ve now changed this to a ‘buy one, get one free’ coupon and simultaneously raised the prices of their drinks. It felt like a downgrade from a customer perspective, and the gesture that once made guests feel welcome now feels like an upcharge.
Beautiful hotel! Conveniently located and honestly the best smelling hotel I've ever stayed in. The kids loved the water slide and the breakfast was great! Eggs, sausage, toast, muffins, biscuits, gravy, fruit, cereal, yogurt... it was all delicious.
Staff was extremely friendly and the hotel itself was very clean. I would stay here over and over!
First impression of hotel was great. Staff was friendly and kind. Then we got to the room and floors were sticky. One shower look to have black mold growing in it and water would not stay in shower no matter how you put the curtain. Bathtub also was gross. Beds at first are comfortable but very soft. Kids tho did enjoy the waterslide. Hot tub could be bigger as it holds about 6 people. Hotel needs a refresh in the bathrooms big time. Also staff is no were to be found later at night. Waited at front desk for about 5-10 mins til I see one of the staff out front smoking. She then comes in and picks up the phone and tells the person on the other end thank you for holding. Now I see why it takes so long when I called and get placed on hold.
Overall it was alright. The pool was fun, but cold. The beds and counters were clean, which was what mattered in the moment. But the longer we were there, the more nastiness we noticed. After walking on the floors (in our room!!) the bottoms of our feet were dirty. Not just a little, like socks were turning brown. Don’t know the last time they mopped in there. The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been deep cleaned in many months. The toilet and shower were clean, but there was filth in the bathroom corners and mold spots on the ceiling. There were no liners in the garbage pails. Just icky. The breakfast wasn’t awesome either. They watered down the juices so much that they tasted like flavored water. There weren’t enough tables. The room doors were also hard to open! Would not stay again.
Our room was amazing!! Beds and room were super clean we stayed in room 237 which we were grateful for the end unit and quiet as the hotel was FULL of KIDS. Breakfast was scrambled eggs biscuits and gravy you could make your own waffles. We did not eat. The pool looked like fun and people were using the workout room.
We checked in late and the girl at the front desk was great. FYI- There is no elevator in this hotel. Unfortunately the room has some issues, but the beds were good. The details on the room: hair dryer won't even stay in the unit attached to the wall (when I told them front desk they said they knew), the cold water was turned off underneath the sink because of a leak so we about scalded ourselves washing our hands the first time and finally the bed sheets were put on inside out for some reason. Also, the breakfast was a bit to be desired.
Professional staff. We arrived with no reservation not knowing how far we would drive that day. Staff was more than accommodating to get us a very clean room. Also put in our information so we would get our points applied to our Diamond membership. Would definitely stay there again.
