What a nice place. Although not brand new and super fancy, I did not get the feeling of anything gross. The customer service was fantastic!!! The pool area was clean and fun for the kids. Could maybe use some more lighting for the evening.
The view here is spectacular! It's nice as well that we are out on the outskirts of town.
Beds were comfortable! We would stay here again!
Very nice room with lake view. Friendly staff and the pool and hot tub were nice. My only suggestion would be to not use those instant eggs (horrible) and find better sausages (were like cardboard) . Also the OJ seemed watered down. My wife loved the room but said if we stayed here again we would go out for breakfast.
The different pools, the hot tub, the beach at the lake... all the water options were perfect. Well kept. Breakfast was thorough.
Left full. Had a great time. They are changing out all the mattresses right now. I slept well. Definitely would come back if I ever get back up this far north.
Our location was perfect. 1st floor on Lake Superior. However, our room smelled like dog pretty bad. We live with dogs, this was bad. The hot tub was 5 -10 degrees too cold and they refuse to turn it up. The breakfast was cold and rubbery. Waffles were good, the rest was not. The place has really fallen apart in the past few years.
The PROs:|Very nice staff including cleaning crew and breakfast crew. Everyone was super nice. ||Two chairs in the room besides the beds, etc so we could sit down to eat at the desk. ||Shower had lots of hot water and good pressure. ||It seemed fairly quiet. I didn’t hear a lot of noise but that could just be the people who were there that night. ||Good variety of pillows. ||Microwave and fridge worked well. ||Location was not bad and the view from the breakfast room was nice. ||The CONs:|The hallways and the room smelled bad. The hallway by the front desk smells like pool, but the stairway and hallway out to the left of the main desk were gross smelling, like a mix of cat pee and smoke. I don’t know what it was but it was not nice. ||The beds were innerspring mattresses and you could tell. They sort of sagged to the middle a bit, not very comfortable. ||The bathrooms are small and everything is a bit outdated. ||We found the previous people’s socks so I am guessing the vacuuming could be better. ||The breakfast food was yucky. The eggs were barely warm and were watery and spongy. When pressed with a fork, clear liquid squeezed out. I think they were frozen and hadn’t been heated up enough. The sausage was also spongy and not very warm . The oatmeal is only the packets of oatmeal that you mix with hot water. I guess, sort of standard for some hotels, but when you pay $250 for a room, I would hope for a better breakfast including maybe a gluten-free bagel or bread tucked into a freezer somewhere so people who are gluten-free have something to eat besides squishy eggs and spongy sausage. ||I could overlook some of this if we hadn’t paid so much. I expect things like this from hotels that are $89 a night, not anything near the price we paid.
Check in and check out were a breeze. Breakfast overlooking the lake was beautiful. My daughter loved all the pool options and spend hours going between them. Perfect weekend getaway!
Pick up the dog poop that surrounds the back decks facing the lake. Shampoo the carpets in the rooms more often and replace the old outdated couches and bedspreads. Also the orange painted walls are the worst. Turn up the heat in the hot tub and clean out the jets so they actually work. And for gods sake lower your prices a little. That hotel isn’t nice enough to charge those rates unless you upgrade it. You do have one of the nicer beaches but you need to keep up on the chairs and tables out there.
Fun outdoor games and indoor games for the guests. The pool area was nice but the hot tub was barely lukewarm warm. There was a big spider web in the window and a dirty pool towel hanging on the ironing board in our room. The bed and pillows were comfortable but overall for the price I was expecting a little better.
