Subpar room, poor service. Requested late checkout. Forced to pay cash, $100 deposit. Checked in late at night, went out for lunch. Returned and key would not work. Was then told long after the fact that I was to check out at 10am, even though I requested a pm check out. My deposit was kept and service is slow. Borderline robbery $200 for what 12 hours in a motel???
The rooms upstairs are all brand new renovated rooms. The rooms downstairs are gross. Seems like it's the only hotel that doesn't fill up on weekends it looks like it's broke down and closed but it's open. The staff is really nice. They wash the beding every other day. The location is perfect for living the "casino life". Pet friendly. But it's more then your mortgage for sure $1600. A month plus 100 extra per dog n I have 2 so that's 1800 a month.
DO NOT STAY HERE!! Rooms are a disaster! Blankets have cigarette burns in them. No curtains. Missing lightbulbs. Broken dresser drawers. We asked for a refund as soon as we saw the room but the owner refused. The nice pictures posted are completely misleading. For you can do better at any other hotel in the area for the same price. BEWARE.
Infinitely better now that it's under new management and sponsored by the casino. Room was clean, nice bedding, ac worked and not a bug in sight. Outside still has some.. character but a vast Improvement over previous years.
Not as advertised. Non smoking room reeked of smoke. Bed cover/blanket had burn holes and stains. Carpet had multiple cigarette burns. I get it...people here smoke...so I accepted that and went to the owner to get a refund (I was in the room 10 minutes...the time it took to book another room). He offered a $10 discount, but the sneezing, coughing baby compelled me to turn it down. He refused a refund. I ate it and paid for a much nicer room down the street. I made it clear that if I paid for his room, the cheapskate better not rent my room out that evening. And btw...their site says kitchens in all rooms...not true...microwave and refrigerator. ..but you can find that in many hotels. Positive...the hired help lady who checked me in was kind, professional, and expeditious. She should find a job at a much better place...I will gladly serve as a reference.
You can't post zero stars so I give it one. Uninhabitable without exterminator services. More cockroaches than I have ever seen. Tried leaving lights on so they wouldn't come out. Did not work. Put a glove over my drink but still too afraid a bug got in it. Diner next door was incredible. I had yummy leftovers for days but damn bugs got to it in secomds. Finally gave up and went to casino at 2 a.m. after a huge one ran across the bed. Babies socialize in the bathroom. Teenagers around the fridge and microwave. Wonder where mama roach hangs out? It's a shame because other than bugs, it's a quaint hotel with a mountain view and ironically good housekeeping.
My family & I stay at Americas Best Value Inn at Charles Town, for several years now, no its not the "Ritz", but it has always been clean, very comfortable. They have recently done some upgrades / renovations, it looks great. I love the sidewalks and its glitter. The staff has amazing customer service. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when we pass through. It seems like we're stopping by to see additional family; we are always greeted with, "Where have you been?, its been so long since you have visited". It really means so much. We normally deal with Lisa, as she works evening shift, or is usually there when we come through late evening / night.....she is a gem. Sincerely has a wonderful personality. Just makes you feel at home. So a huge thank you to Lisa. & All the staff.
I have stayed at this location before. Previously felt like I got what I paid for. It's a very old motel and could definitely use some major renovations. This time on the other hand was horrible! The bed was like a seasaw, there were holes in the walls and bathroom door, burn holes in the blanket, shower was dirty and the cable remote control didn't work! The only positive thing I can say is that the young lady in the office was very sweet and genuinely apologetic! So that one star goes to her!
