My husband and I had our wedding at American Wilderness Campground and it was GORGEOUS. The service we received from Allison and her team was incredible. She was clear about everything and made it all very easy. The ceremony was outside and reception in the hall. We had about 70 guests and it was more than enough room for us.
I'm so happy with how everything went. I highly recommend this venue for any events!
The most beautiful campground. The facility is just gorgeous with a rustic picturesque setting. The layout, trees, buildings, lakes and setting is just serene. There a plenty of fun activities for families. The entire place is clean even the camp sites are clutter free. This place has high standards, which is plain to see.
I have came to this campground the last couple of years. I've never really had a problem, every one is kind and friendly like most campgrounds. But I don't agree with how they choose to price. If a site is 2 adults and 2 children then to me that should include children of any age. But that's not how it works, if your child is grown they charge a extra 15 dollars to stay the night, so to stay a whole weekend is a additional 30 dollars. I've already paid 95 for a site plus the 30 more I'm over 120. If your site can hold 4 people it shouldn't matter to me what age they are. We had a amazing neighbor who had stayed about a week, every time her children wanted to come they had to pay to visit. If that's what they want to choose to charge then that's fine but at least use the extra money to update the bathrooms. Other then me not being very on board with them charging extra for people over 17 besides for the 2 adults that are included the property is nice, the lakes are very relaxing, and enjoyed my stay.
The campground was beautiful. The shower house is older, but very clean. The staff was kind and very helpful. We left a day early, but at no fault of the campground. The tent sites can be a little crowded and make you bump into neighbors if you have 2 larger tents, but they are decent sites. If you are looking for private and secluded sites, this wouldn’t be the campground at-least where we were.
The website is miss leading. Went to Ohio to visit our family that lives there. I should have read the reviews better. The family was charged a fee just to come into the park for a couple of hours to visit us. $26 dollars for one adult and two children was ridiculous. The bathrooms were outhouses and stunk to high heavens. There was trash everywhere. Would not recommend to anyone to stay there.
This is our favorite campground! We have camped here several times and always enjoy the experience. It’s super affordable, pretty clean, nice amenities, and friendly staff! Perfect choice for our fall family camping trip!
Beautiful spots, great service, large selection of items in store, great location. The view of the water is unmatched, and being able to go out on it is even better. There’s a swimming pond that’s well kept, as well as many areas for rainy days and play areas for children. Overall a great experience, would definitely come here again!
Very expensive. Beautiful, well kept campground. Supports transient tent campers! Almost no campground-sponsored activities. No pool. Atmosphere is loud and people are not very friendly. No full hookup; good luck getting a successful black tank pump out - not going to happen - so expect to haul your own waste (confirmed with every seasonal camper we talked to). Rules are enforced strictly for some, but not for others (I have photos). Every camper on the premises is breaking at least one of their extremely nit-picky rules. Loud music all day and most of the night. Quiet hours NOT enforced at all. There are enough unusual rules that they could make a case for not "inviting a camper back" for next season for anyone who camps there. Lots of staff who can't answer any questions. If you camp seasonally, consider that any outdoor tools, campfire supplies, fuel, etc., you have must be kept in a shed that you buy and construct yourself or keep inside your camper. Nothing is allowed around or under any camper, regardless of how many campers get away with doing this. Rules state that campers must control weeds on their lot - including using weed and feed on your grassy areas. But rules here seem to be so randomly (or selectively) enforced.
