I absolutely loved my visit here! All of the students were friendly, eager to help each other out, and the instructors were very professional. Jordan did an AMAZING job on my hair! The atmosphere was relaxed without being lazy and the building was very clean. Will definitely be coming back for future hair care!
Horrible experience as I made an appointment two weeks in advance and upon arriving was given two different excuses to why the service could not be competed. Christie is combative, defensive and not willing to accept responsibility for students scheduling errors. Her apology was not sincere and she has no empathy for guests. Staff takes no accountability for auditing schedules. UPDATE: 20 minutes after I arrived home, I get a call from one of the instructors asking if I still wanted to get my twists. I politely declined. Never let anyone who does hair touch yours after a misunderstanding. I would not want my hair to suffer any backlash. No thank you American Academy
Ambor and Ms. Ann are awesome. Truly appreciate the time you both spent with me. Ambor is going to have an amazing career. And Ms. Ann, truly cares about her students and clients!

A licensed cosmetologist / instructor suggested a Malibu DDL on my hair and advised the student what to do. The student followed her directions. The process turned my hair orange. The lead staff tried to fix my hair, but it still looked orange. Two local salons quoted me hundreds of dollars to fix it. And to add insult to injury, the lead staff told me my hair looked better than when I came in and that it was my own fault for having a student do my hair. Be very aware of having something done here because the information you should be able to trust, from a licensed cosmetologist who has her own shop, could be terrible and you may end up with orange hair that will require HUNDREDS to fix, and according to them, it will be your own fault for trusting them.
I’ve watched how staff treats students and the drama that occurs here at this school. Does not seem like a thriving experience or example for future students. I wouldn’t recommend my own family to study here.
Theresa (aka Mylasia) has done my nail services twice and I’ve been so impressed both times! She is very communicative, considerate, and caring. She is going to go so far, and I’ll follow her wherever she goes. ????
