Best WLM Reviews
Am always a little hesitant to get glasses/contacts because of the cost, but McKenzie and Anna were so helpful. McKenzie went out of her way to check prices and make sure I was getting the best deal with my insurance. Seriously was so appreciative of their helpful and cheerful attitude. 10/10. She explained what the cost for each item was and was clear with instructions/delivery/and up-charges. Definitely recommend going here.
Night and day compared to the last (now out of business) company we went to for my daughter last year. Anna - the new GM - is really working hard to turn things around. The day before Thanksgiving & we were greeted promptly and never felt rushed. The exam was extremely thorough, and the Doctor … who was working remotely (I was a little hesitant when they told me this at first, but it actually ended up being just fine) … and the Tech made sure to explain everything and answer all of our questions. Thank you for helping to make the experience easy and comfortable for me & my daughter!
I will not be going back to America's Best. I don't trust them.
The optometrist was very good and knew his stuff. He did an exam for progressive lenses, my first time trying them, but when the glasses came in, not a single part of the lenses were in focus.
They kept claiming that my brain needed to adjust to the new prescription (two different senior people were saying this), which is a load of nonsense. They're either in focus or they're not. If my brain could adjust to a prescription that is not in focus, then I would never need to get new glasses with a new prescription. My brain would just adjust, right?
They kept acting like I was nuts but finally agreed to redo them after I revisited the optometrist. After doing a second exam, he confirmed that his initial exam was accurate. They said they would redo them for free, acting like they were doing me a favor, like somehow it was my fault, but they were being nice. That p***** me off.
The new lenses came in, and they were in focus and sharp. It turns out that the first time, they had put the iris location down towards the bottom of the lenses when they should have been up towards the top. Apparently, changing that fixed the problem. That was a mistake made by the front-end staff. The girl who initially measured the iris location seemed to be new, and I guess just didn't know what she was doing and messed it up.
The second time around, the person handling it all was one of the senior people who initially told me that my brain needed to adjust. I told her I understood what she was talking about by the brain needing to adjust, which has nothing to do with the lenses being in focus, but that the brain has to adjust to how things move weird when you first wear glasses, or change from contacts to glasses, and vice versa. She got annoyed by that and disagreed with me. I told her I've been wearing glasses and contacts for 55 years, and I know how it works. She seemed to get more annoyed and walked away, not talking to me again after that.
So... I won't be going back because I can't trust that the staff knows anything about wearing glasses. I suspect that the most senior guy in the store, who was one of the two senior people I talked to initially, misunderstood what it means for the brain needing to adjust and pushed his incorrect understanding onto everyone else in the store, resulting in them disagreeing with me when I tried explaining it. It was certainly obvious that they had no idea what they were talking about.
When I first went in to get my glasses, I had to wait for this senior guy to finish talking to another woman who was complaining about the exact same problem I was having, nothing being in focus. I felt sorry for her because they convinced her that she was wrong, and she ended up leaving with her messed-up glasses.
I very definitely can not recommend America's Best.
I truly with I could give this place a zero star review. After being a good and loyal customer for 15 years, they show no respect. They have THE WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I broke my glasses and am not able to get to them to get a new eye exam as my prescription expired 2 months ago... I asked if my mother could go pick up a trial pair of contacts so I am able to get to the eye doctor and get an exam. They were out of my contacts so I was told to call another location and see if they have them. I called another location who told me if they would just go back and ask the doctor I would more than likely be able to get an extension on my prescription and order new glasses and get contacts to hold me over. I called back to the Brickyard location and spoke with Kim, who has no etiquette or social skills in the customer service line and told me she would not speak to the doctor for me. I will never ever come back to this place, it has been the worst customer service I have ever experienced with each visit but this pushed me over the edge. If you like being treated poorly and enjoy having no help from anyone in there then I would recommend this tragic excuse for a doctors office.
They were all very friendly when I came in to get contacts. But after I left the store is when the real nightmare began.
I tried calling in with a simple question about the contacts I ordered, but got stuck dealing with their useless phone system. After 20 minutes of dealing with their terrible call IVR, I finally had someone on the phone. I expressed my frustration with the useless complexity of their IVR and was met with open hostility from the employee. Who then refused to answer any of my eye related questions.
I told them I want a refund, and was met with open resistance.
I WILL be getting my refund, whether I have to have my credit card company handle it or not; and I will be giving my money to a company that deserves to stay in business.
Avoid this business at all costs. Don’t let their cheaper prices lure you in. This is a HORRIBLE company. Their overall low reviews truly reflect their terrible service, the trouble is not worth the couple of dollars you will save.
I have 2 pairs of glasses which I had not bought from America's Best that needed adjusting. I called the Brickyard location and spoke with Kim who told me to come on down. I arrived later and was greeted by Kim who adjusted and cleaned both pairs all while maintaining a happy respectful friendly professional demeanor. No charge. Since I will at some point in the near future be in need of a new optometry shop, I will definitely be patronizing America's Best Brickyard. As a side thought, I hope Kim's dentist appointment went well today...
This location seems to have an issue with time management and organization. I waited for an hour and was not addressed for my appointment. Including other patients being addressed before me who checked in after me. I was not early for my appointment I was exactly 10 minutes early like instructed. Then when I tried to cancel my appointment I was ignored by the entire front staff. There were several of us needing to be addressed and not a single staff member looked up. Waited for other 10 minutes before someone asked if I had been helped yet. Not a medically professional clinic.
I received Great service at the America's Best Eyecare at 1140 Brickyard Rd., Salt Lake City, Utah. Anna, an excellent young Associate, spent 40 minutes contacting my insurance coverage, & showing me a lot of possible frames and lenses. They have thousands of combinations of frames, lens types & treatments. I did not wait at all, though I got there at 5:45, a busy time. This is my optometry store from now on, and I highly recommend them!
