Clean and well-maintained, and the use of the meeting room was greatly appreciated by my party and myself. However, there were 2 separate computer glitches that took a long time to correct by the very kind and patient front staff.
Room was great, but the bathtub was really gross and the shower had very little pressure and did not really get hot.
Breakfast was good, and what you would expect, and was worth checking out.
I LOVE this hotel!
Right across the street from the beach.
The staff is awesome.
It's a old school Florida hotel.
If you want want a more expensive hotel like the Hampton, you will be waling a good distance to and from the beach and paying $90.00 more to do it.
Call early because of their price point is so good, they sell out fast.
PERFECT for groups also.
I own a T.A. and I use this hotel for all my Jacksonville cruises.
Loved it. Great, hot breakfast. Big rooms. Felt like 3-star hotel.
Initially was given a dune-view room, instead of the 'partial ocean view' room we paid for. But they finally straightened that out and put us on 3rd floor, although beds were a little different.
Maintenance dept. had a small problem when they improperly disposed of a smoke detector in their office, and it was blaring at 9pm and disturbing everyone on 3rd floor. I was able to coax the Mgr to come out and fix the problem, although they gave some lame excuses (which I didn't accept) to start with.
Cleaning staff was good. Breakfast staff was great. We'll stay again. Thanks.
Definitely needs renovation or total rebuild. Great location. Got the best room. View balcony , ocean view, over viewing traffic circle also. Breakfast was good. Staff was great! Good folks!!
Overall, we had a good stay at Amelia Hotel at the Beach. The location is great! The beach, as well as a public access, are right across the street. The room was dated, but clean. As other's have posted, we too had problems with the AC in our room. When we called the front desk they said to try turning it off and then back on. This included shutting off the thermostat and unplugging the blower from the wall. This did not always produce immediate results. We had to do that everyday for the four days we were there. Sometimes multiple times a day. The outlet the blower/handler was plugged into sparked every time it was touched. Not a safe situation and that is why I am only giving three stars. We should not have had to deal with maintenance issues while on our vacation. Other than the AC we found the establishment to have what we needed with the exception of somewhere to hang wet clothing/towels in the room. The shower did not even have a towel bar in it to hang our wet suits. Being a beach hotel you need something to hang your wet gear on to dry. Some cheap, stand-up towel racks would do the trick. The daily breakfast was good. It was real, fresh-cooked food. Not your typical muffins, hard-boiled eggs etc wrapped in plastic. We were pleased with the breakfast being included. The pool was enjoyable. The hotel even provided pool towels if you ask for them. They had an adequate number of room trolleys for luggage. We did not have to search for one. The hotel itself had decent sound-proofing between rooms, with the exception of the rude people who would let their room doors slam repeatedly at night. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Check-in was quick and without any problems. We were able to check-in an hour early. After our 6.5 hour drive to get there, this was appreciated. Hotels that nit-pick check-in times are so annoying. If they repaired the AC problems, I would definitely stay here again.
Room was fine, small things wrong, nothing major. I was irritated about the phone not working though, 4 days and not fixed although I was told somebody would be down to look at it. Location is very good. Staff nice and helpful. Breakfast ample for us. I would come again.
The stay was very comfortable. Rooms were clean. Shower water was hot. Breakfast in the morning was excellent. Staff was very friendly. You're not right on the beach. It is a nice short walk to it. Definitely will stay again.
We came to Amelia with high hopes to have a great weekend getaway. Sadly, this is not what we got when it came to the hotel. The lobby is nice. Smelled good and had a throw back beachy feel. The hallway to the room was also clean and smelled fresh but the moment we stepped into the room, everything changed. The A/C was not working. It was 80 degrees and really really humid and smelled like stale air. We were able to get the A/C on and hoped for the best. Shortly after we noticed a brown liquid oozing from the crown moulding in the corner of the room. The floor was also very dirty and there was mold in the grout between the shower tiles. After spending the night (because it was too late for us to leave that night) we also noticed what looked like a large blood stain on the bed sheet. This was it for us. Thankfully they refunded us in full and on our way back home. The property overall needs help or they may need more cleaning staff that needs some quality checking behind them. Sad we had to cut our stay so short.
