Perfect location and such a cozy lobby area. We had a great stay! We walked to Declan’s pub and had such a fun night out, but was still able to walk back even in the freezing cold. Even stopped in the lobby for a hot cup of cider before bed. Thank you, Hyatt.
My hubby and I celebrated our anniversary in Chicago recently and we stayed with Ambassador by Hyatt and had a wonderful stay. It's an older historic building so the rooms and hallways were a little more dated. But overall, our deluxe king corner room was very comfortable and had everything we needed.
The bed and pillows were very comfortable and it might have been one of the very few trips where we had good sleeps almost every night. There is a mini fridge that you can put your own food/drinks in, drawers for your clothes which made our stay feel even more homey, and plenty of outlets. Netflix doesn't work on the TV but most other streaming apps do. The bathroom could definitely use some updating. It's a little on the smaller side with minimal counter space which made getting ready a little tricky.
The shower is small but I will say that the pressure was strong and the water got very hot which was so nice during the December month we came. Front desk, doormen, housekeepers and valet workers were all wonderful and that's usually expected with Hyatt hotels from our previous experiences. We opted to pay for valet which was $$$ ($62 per night) but honestly, it was worth it because of the in and out privileges. Most, if not all, parking garages and lots were half the price but excluded in and out which defeats the purpose of having a car in the city as you don't have the flexibility to get your car whenever you want. Also, the location of the hotel is prime. You can't beat it. Walking distance from lots of shops and restaurants and close to Lake Michigan.
Overall, we had an excellent stay with Ambassador. Also, if you're looking for a coffee shop nearby, you must check out 3 Arts Club Cafe at RH Chicago. Phenomenal coffee!
Amazing drinks and service always. I live in the neighborhood and am here at least once a week enjoying!! Armani is the best and if you can, go when he is working. The restaurant has amazing history as well and fascinating pictures. The food and drinks are always amazing!
Armani is seriously amazing behind that bar! ???? He's got this super warm personality that just makes you feel right at home. When I visited on this freezing cold day, he went above and beyond and whipped up this perfect custom hot toddy for me - exactly what I needed! Not only were his drinks on point, but the food was incredible too. You can tell he really cares about making sure everyone's happy and taken care of. Honestly the kind of bartender who turns a regular night out into something special. Five stars and then some!! Definitely recommend asking for him when you stop by!!
Great location near the center but nicely removed from tourist-land. Feels like an actual neighborhood. Very close to the lakefront for morning runs and walkable to the subway and everything else.
Older building renovated with clean, modern rooms. Mine had a decent view. The AC actually makes the room cold.
Friendly staff.
Would happily stay here again.
Stayed here in mid June during the very hot weather. Very nice hotel. Rooms a little tired and could do with a little TLC. Carpet had a few stains although not dirt, more bleach stains where previous cleaned.
Had an issue with the toilet which backed up in the early hours of the morning couple of days into our stay and deposited waste all over the bathroom floor which ran into the carpet in the room. Although maintenance came very quickly after reporting it the issue was not fully resolved and happened again on our last night. What was more upsetting was coming back to the room on the first occurrence after being out for a good 10 hours to find housekeeping had not been and clear the mess so walked into human waste on a soaking wet carpet, which even after it was eventually cleaned, remained wet for the remainder of our 6 day stay. No other rooms were apparently available although a single bedded room was temporarily supplied for bathroom use. Other than that the hotel is very comfortable and in a great location. Just far away enough from town to be quiet but easily walkable.
There was occasionally a wait for one of the 2 lifts at peak times but this is an old building so not much can be done and it really is a minor inconvenience.
Staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.
Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel staff are AMAZING ????. The location is very comfortable with views of the lake and everything is within walking distance. The hotel itself gives off a great gadspy vibes. Older building, very unique, it's wonderful. The amenities... Well the toilets sheer volume could wake the dead. Sounds like a jet engine at 3 a.m. when anyone is using one near your room.
Incredible. ???? The front desk staff were very friendly and courteous. Check in and check out were a breeze. It took us longer to head to our room than it did to check in.
Gorgeous lobby. The room itself was really nice for the price. Granted, we did have the fire escape right outside our window. But we just wanted a space to ourselves. Everything was clean and tidy when we got there. The carpet was indeed a bit dated but I expected that. The beds were super comfy. A tiny bit squeaky but not noticeable from the hallway. Overall great!!! I'd 100% spend a full night here. ????????
