I visited this pizza spot twice in a week. Their pizza is just so good and fresh. Pizza is delicious. I love their garlic knots as well. Pizza was thin and crusty just how I like it. Staffs were friendly and attentive. It's not very crowded when I went. Free parking outside their restaurant. I can come back and try more of their pizza next time.
The first time and Amano did not disappoint. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very clean as well. I am in love with the Chicken Caprese. It was perfect, and the Pesto Honey Roni and square were very tasty. I will definitely be back to try other items.
Have you ever checked out Amano Pizza yet? I know they have multiple locations, I visited the South Amboy spot. Got a cheese pie and a cheesesteak. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the restaurant had ample seating and was clean.
Was with my girlfriend (who doesn’t like onions) so I got the steak “without”. Ribeye, Cooper sharp cheese, and a seeded semolina roll. The roll was toasted but I don’t think it needed to be, seemed like it would have been an even more solid roll without the toasting. I know they get them fresh daily from a bakery in Staten Island. Cooper Sharp is simply the best and ribeye is obviously what we’re looking for here. It was more chopped than I personally prefer, but that’s just a preference thing. The flavor was great.
One of the better pizzas I’ve had in quite a while. They use Grande cheese which is the first thing that makes me happy when getting pizza. The crust was thin and crispy and there was a nice little bit of char on the bottom. I could have eaten this pizza all day long.
I’d definitely go back and check out some other stuff from Amano, and get another cheese pie ????. Certainly … Didn’t Suck!
Been going there for a couple of years now and I haven’t gone anywhere else. They’re creative with their food and haven’t had a bad slice yet. These are good people and it shows in their service. I find myself telling other customers my experiences with the food because each time I go to their locations I’m undecided. Consistency in the taste and their dinners are phenomenal. My Wife loves their salads too. Looking through my phone I took a bunch of pictures and I even bought a hoodie as they sell them there. Amazing place with amazing staff.
This was our third spot we tried based on Dave Portnoy’s One Bite Pizza. He rated a 7.8.
Easy to find with a medium size parking lot and street parking. The restaurant is setup for counter pickup and dine in. We went during lunch time and there was in and out pickup orders with a nice crowd having lunch.
We order a large cheese pie, cheesesteak and meatball parmigiana.
The Pizza was thin and crispy. The slice had no flop and the bottom crust could have been more cooked a little bit more. It did taste good but could have used more cheese and sauce.
The cheesesteak with mozzarella, peppers, onions was very bland.
The meatball parmigiana was good but the crusty bread was the winner.
Prices are competitive with other similar restaurants.
As for the 7.8 by Dave Portnoy I believe it’s on the money.
I would recommend and say try more of the specialty pizza.
I have been around Pizzeria's all my life. Most of them, if not all are pretty much the same, and nothing stands out as I am picky on my pizza's. I met the owners at a film shoot where they were making pizza's outside for a party. The pizza was that good.
So one day, I decided to stop by the Matawan location and the upside down caught my eye. After eating the slice, I was amazed on the quality of the slice. I went back inside and left my phone number so one of the owners can call me. That day Nino called me and I explained to him I would need 6-8 Pizza's for a company I deal with in a few days.
We figured out what I needed. On the day of the pickup, not only was the food ready on time, but it was fresh. The pizza was provided to over 20 people, and every single one of them said that this was one of the better ones they have had, with no complaints. I have tried many locations over the years, but this particular place stands out.
We ordered The Upside Down Brooklyn, The Margherita, The Trio with Vodka and Pesto, and the Regular Cheese Pizza. Nino and John also made some Ham/Pepperoni & Cheese Rolls which were a hit.
I will definitely be back, as this is my go to spot. The location in South River is convenient as well, being only one mile off Route 9 South, or Route 35 South coming off the parkway. A few hours later, Nino called me to make sure everything was to my liking, which was the first time any pizzeria made an effort after the fact. This clearly shows that they care about the customer and take pride in the quality of their food. Additionally, they offered to make certain types of pizza not even on the menu which is a big hit.
Definitely worth the hype!
Super good flavor on both the plane and buffalo chicken. Definitely one of the best, if not the best buffalo chicken slice I’ve ever had. Pizza could have been a bit warmer but still really good.
Have ordered here in the past but this time was very disappointed. Got the cacio e Pepe and it was essentially penne, water, and a small amount of black pepper. Very upsetting and inedible. Until they update how they make it , I will not be ordering this again.
