Had a lovely stay last week at the resort. As with everywhere you go... there were fantastic employees that went above and beyond and others that did the absolute bare minimum. |I had my first ever massage at the spa. It was AMAZING! (I believe I had Alex, blonde hair, bangs) She did a phenomenal job making me comfortable. |Wish we could have taken pictures with the hydrotherapy access, but understand the privacy aspect of it.|The "pathway" from the resort to the Spa was NOT what we were expecting! Definately wear shoes! We went in slippers and it was very icy and DARK for our return trip the hotel.
A breathtaking resort, with many things for all walks of life to enjoy. From a much-needed day spa experience to hitting the slopes. You can have your cake and eat it too at this place! ???????????? Staying on the sixth floor allowed a bird's-eye view of the Christmas lights on the trees below, adding to the ample holiday season vibes felt throughout the resort. ???????????? Staff interactions were all pleasant. Definitely want to say the morning servers at Forte restaurant were what any leader would strive to hire for a fine-dining restaurant at a resort! Good job, yall! ???????????? Overall, having a Christmas Party or simple wanting to indulge in giving you a tasteful weekend in many ways. I'll be choosing Alyeska over anything else in the area every time! ????????????
Alyeska Resort in Girdwood is amazing! The snow-covered hills and endless snowy trees outside my room were breathtaking, especially at sunrise. The view felt like something out of a dream. The resort has a warm and cozy vibe that made my stay incredibly relaxing. I absolutely loved everything about it and highly recommend it for anyone visiting Alaska!
I just had a disappointing experience and terrible service at the spa.
We’re moving to the Anchorage region next month and are on a trip to buy a house. In between appointments, we took a drive down Seward Highway. When I noticed a spa, we turned in. I was very excited to learn they had appointments for a massage, so I made one for a couple hours later.
After having lunch, I returned to the spa. I took my exfoliating shower and, with half an hour before the appointment, decided to check out the hydrotherapy facility. This is the only good thing I can say: it was a beautiful setting; sitting outside in the pools, amidst the trees in a winter Alaskan drizzle, is magical. I’d imagine that if you get good service and an actual relaxing visit, it’s lovely.
I spent about 10-15 minutes in the hot pool, then went up to wait for my massage. At 1:00, masseuses came out and picked up everyone but me.
One of the masseuses noticed me sitting there and asked if I was waiting. I said yes, maybe I got the time wrong? She went into a room and returned to tell me that my appointment indeed was at 1:00pm and she’d sent a message to the front desk and someone would come talk to me.
It wasn’t immediate, but someone came up. She said that the masseuse had left for a family emergency. She offered me a 6:30pm appointment. Since we weren’t staying at the hotel and have things going on tonight, I said I just wanted a refund and to leave.
She took me to the desk and issued a refund. When I went to the locker room to change, I noticed she hadn’t given me a full refund—it was $20 short. So I had to return to the front desk to get the remainder of the refund.
I changed and left. Now…if I were a business that had just left someone sitting and not informed them that their masseuse had left, I would’ve offered to comp, or at least discount, a future service. Nope. It was just hey, sorry, here’s us not even getting your refund right, and bye.
As I finish writing this review, I see a missed call from the lodge. Maybe they’re going to try to make amends. If so, great…but it should’ve been immediate.
Highly recommend the Nordic spa. Several pools and tubs at varying temperatures. Several types of saunas at varying temperatures. Had the best massage of my life (signature Nordic massage). The rooms were clean and very nice. The food was good and with the several dining options there is something for everyone. Prices are a bit high and portions a bit small but considering the location and amenities I think its reasonable to expect. If you're visiting and want a comfy Alaskan style resort that is close to both Anchorage and the Kenia Peninsula this is the perfect place. If you're local and want to relax and celebrate a special intimate occasion also perfect.
I had a great experience when I called to make reservations for my entire family over the Christmas holiday. Jessica was so helpful and friendly that it made the process a very pleasant experience. Hearing that we have a adult son with mobility issues she worked extra hard to make sure he would have access to an accessible bathroom during our stay.|Thank you again Jessica for the excellent customer service!
As someone in the hotel and hospitality business I probably have a more critical eye, but I was willing to look past so many of the problems with this property (staff attentiveness/friendliness, staffing levels, cost etc.) but I had to draw the line on room comfort. For nearly $500 a night there is an expected level of comfort and this ain’t it. The rooms are dated, the carpets soiled, the beds… hard as a rock, 1990s spring mattresses from hell. Worse than a Motel 6. No air conditioning also. It will tell you a lot about a hotel’s knowledge of their own shortcomings when they put high power circulation fans in the room closets as a failsafe. If I was staying in a cabin in Seward, this would be one thing. But at Alaska’s premier resort?||The front desk did not care one bit which isn’t surprising. They did tell me the hotel is renovating one floor at a time and that their premier floor 8 did not suffer from these inadequacies. This doesn’t help obviously. I could have stayed in anchorage again in a nice room, and just come down for the day, which is what I suggest anyone reading this does. I’ve wanted to stay at Alyeska for nearly 5 years and this was not the experience that I was looking for.
The updates to the resort and the nordic spa facilities are great. The restaurants however, are not good. Menus are limited without a variety of items to satisfy most. Not family friendly menus. Prices indicate food that should be of a much higher standard than what is presented. It's my only complaint about the place. Luckily there are other eating options in the town.
