Best WLM Reviews
I was excited to visit Altura, and it did not disappoint. They don’t try to be pretentious with their decor or atmosphere; instead, it’s a relaxed space where you can enjoy exquisite cuisine. Every dish was fresh and absolutely delicious. Watching the chefs prepare the food added to the overall experience, making it even more enjoyable. The chef truly created art, crafting unique flavors that go beyond the usual combinations of ingredients. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
I had high expectations and they were met and then some. Although some conceptual dishes, everything was filling and i did not leave hungry what so ever. Some people have said service can be slow. I thought the opposite. Sotting at the bar top and watching the dishes be constructed made the 3 hours fly by. Absolutely fantastic. And the NA drink pairings ?! That guy really loves what he does and really makes great cocktails.
We had reservations for a Saturday at 5pm. We were running late 15-20 minutes, we called them to let them know and they were very accommodating. We picked seats at the bar to watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen and it was a great experience!
It is a set menu and roughly 2.5-3 hours experience but highly recommend! They do email you asking about any dietary restrictions prior to your arrival. They were very accommodating and made sure to exclude or provide alternatives when I arrived for dinner. I forgot to mention I don’t do mushrooms, I have never liked mushrooms and have given it a fair shot at every restaurant I’ve gone to in different cuisines, but I could never do it. One of the dishes they had was a ricotta filled pasta with golden chanterelle mushrooms and I ended up eating ALL of it. I couldn’t believe it, it ended up being one of my favorite dishes of the night. However, the winner for me was the tomato dish, they made a tomato sorbet with blue din tuna and prepped tomatoes a few other ways… it is to die for!
Our chef, Keaton, was so wonderful and personable and answered all of the questions we had and even gave us a sample of some of the sauces they preserved in-house.
Overall, one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in Seattle and will definitely be going back!
Absolutely fantastic, a really unique dining experience. Some dishes in the dinner were a bit underwhelming, but most were great and some were AMAZING. We went here for our anniversary and I'd definitely come back again for a special occasion.
I recommend sitting at the chef's counter, it was cool getting to see all the prep (and effort) put into each dish
"Altura exceeded our expectations! We celebrated my partner's birthday here, and the entire dining experience was exceptional. From start to finish, each course was beautifully plated and delicious. The staff were attentive and impressive. Altura boasts an impressive spread of vegetarian options, making it perfect for diverse tastes. Highly recommended!"
This is our second time here and although the menu has changed since last year Christmas, the chef was still able to maintain a high level of creativity with their dishes. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the platings were visually aesthetic. Would come back for the third time!!!
Overall: 2 /5 - The only part of this experience that is on par with a Michelin star restaurant is the price.
Food: 4/5
Wine paring: 3/5
Atmosphere: 1/5
Service: 2/5
Value: 1/5
The menu felt disjointed, with little flow between dishes. Most items were visually appealing and tasted great, several dishes were unbalanced (e.g., an oyster dish dominated by mango) or under-seasoned (notably the Wagyu beef). I found it frustrating when they attempted to upsell truffles at an additional cost— if truffles are essential to the dish, they should be included and priced accordingly.
The wine pairing left much to be desired. I personally didn’t enjoy most of the selections, though that may reflect a difference in palate with the sommelier. However, the inconsistent pours—some guests receiving noticeably less than others—were unprofessional, and the value of the wine service compared to the cost of the wine seemed questionable.
Service throughout the evening was riddled with errors, which I won’t list in detail to avoid sounding petty. Suffice it to say, the level of service was subpar compared to what you’d find at ANY average restaurants in Seattle.
Additionally, the dining room was uncomfortably cold, with over three-quarters of the patrons wearing their coats during the meal.
The experience fell far short of expectations. While the chef showed some solid, I doubt the restaurant will see many repeat customers. Having dined at several dozen Michelin-starred establishments, and many restaurants of this price I’ve never regretted a meal—until now.
I came to Altura for the course meal while on a business trip in Seattle. I thought it was worth it without question. We also split the non alcoholic cocktail pairing. The food was perfect and the staff was very professional and friendly. We sat at the bar where you can observe the chefs preparing your courses. I could see the staff is passionate about what they do which is something I can truly appreciate. I would definitely consider coming back for another course.
