Best WLM Reviews
Worst motel experience in my life. The room was absolutely disgusting with white stains on the curtains, brown splats on the walls and the room smelled like poop. When we requested a new room the older front desk woman yelled at us and tried refusing us a refund because we touched a towel. The owners were very rude, and the rooms were disgusting. The owners also stared me down when I went to look at the Jim Morrison room, which is weird being it’s main attraction. Don’t ever stay at this hotel, if anything just check out Jim’s room and leave unless you want the true 60s junkie experience.
I was looking for a place with walking distance to Sunset Strip. This place also has Rock and Roll history so I chose it. I knew this place would be a dive so I wasn’t too shocked. The bed was comfortable. The air conditioner was in a weird spot, took a little bit to figure out but worked well. Floors were old, water pressure in shower was great. Got to park right by my room I felt safe. Never figured out the tv. Had to pay for my parking spot but was ok with it. They would not give me extra towels.
I see it as a part of music history and really like to staying in Jim Morrison's room - maybe the rooms weren't at tip top shape but the vibe and the convenience of w hollywood being at your fingertips was well worth it- the rooms were clean and acceptable.
I stayed in this motel because of its location and its price, in that order. The Jim Morrison Room was an extra treat. However, I would not spend more than one night. The place is in dire need of an update. The facility is very dated and the rooms show it. The bedsheets were clean and the shower was warm. If that's all you care about then this is the place for you, considering its location & price. However be forewarned that there is a fee to park the car AND they'll charge you $10 to see inside the Jim Morrison room which should be free to paying guests.
I stayed at this motel before and the nice folks took very good care of me. I was there this last weekend for Los Angeles Gay Pride at West Hollywood. Booked my room for two days, in advance. Had some problems getting to them and they held my room for me. They could have given it to someone else and probably should have, but they didn't. That says a lot about how much they care about their customers. The room was clean and had air conditioning. Thank God, those two days and nights were hot. They're very friendly and allowed me to stay there until my cab came to get me. If you ever need a place to stay for not a lot of money, stay at The Alta Cienega Motel. They'll take good care of you.
This place is inexpensive for area, $79 tax included. Rooms are pretty small, the place is clean but lacks the basics. No fridge, no hair dryer, no iron, no coffee maker, no microwave, not even a plug in the bathroom.
Staff is amicable.
Apparently Jim Morrison stayed here, there is a room with his name. The furniture and tv seem to be from that era.
Well if your looking for no frills , this is the place! Nothing but the basics a bed , a table , one chair, a small dresser and a small T.V. this hotel was built in the late 50's or early 60's and the only things that have changed were the flooring and the rates! The location was pretty good right off of Santa Monica Blvd.just a couple blocks up from the original Barney's Beanery( my grandmother work there in the 60's)The main reason that I chose this hotel was because of the fact that Jim Morrison of The Doors stayed there all the time during the Hey Day of The Doors ! Room #32 has a sign on it "The Jim Morrison Room" I was told that they haven't hardly changed a thing that room , I didn't get a chance to see it in person because it occupied but I did get to see some photos ! "Woke up this mornin' and got myself a Beer" Rock On!
Staff overnight when I checked in could barely speak English. Cash was requested, and luckily I had it because I did not see a credit card machine. The room was small, poorly lit, with amenities from the 1970s. A couple scratchy towels. Thin bar of soap, no shampoo. the staff gave the explanation that all of the rooms simply had just soap, no shampoo. Luckily the 7-Eleven up the street had some sample size shampoo for purchase. The curtain rod for the curtain in the bathroom was bent, the curtains had mold spots on them, and the window in the bathroom did not close because it was open and no handle was available to close it from the inside. Thus, it smelled like mold. No iron or ironing board. Bed was soft, sheet had some unidentifiable stains.
