Best WLM Reviews

The service was very poor- our waitress gave us no time to decide on our meal and was pressuring us to finish up quickly, bringing us the dessert menu when we barely started our main course. The food was sub-par: a wedge of lettuce slathered in ranch, a plain baked potato, and basic sirloin steak marketed as “filet minion.” The only positive part was the ambiance- very nice old timey atmosphere.
Restaurant review: We were disappointed in the food and service. My filet mignon wrapped bacon sounded good, but was so fatty I was gagging. And my baked potato was so dry, I could hardly eat it. My hubby asked for a medium cook on his and it was rarer than mine.
I don't think our waitress smiled once.
After dinner, we were directed to go out to the hostess station to pay. It was there we were informed that the restaurant only accepted cash. There were no signs anywhere to prepare us for that. But, hey, there was an ATM machine right there. Ridiculous, right? We did find enough cash in our pockets to pay but only $1 or so for a tip. Sorry, not sorry.
Terrible experience.
Alpine Inn is an epic restaurant of the Black Hills w its unique German food options. Lunch is amazing with German dishes, salads, and desserts. Steaks and salad for supper. They don't accept credit cards so bring some cash. Cool atmosphere, fast service.
We received the referral from two of the nicest young park workers out in Custer Park that were spraying weeds. We always ask locals where they would eat. They both loudly said ALPINE INN Hill City!
We did not stay at the Inn, we did however eat at the restaurant.
It was the absolutely best experience that we had in South Dakota. The Hostess was Phenomenal, what a great personality
treated us like family. Now the food, the steaks came out perfect. The only thing I would change, is only get one Alpine wedge salad between two people. I would eat there once a week if it was in my town.
P.S. Not only the best meal we had in S.D. but the least expensive.
Keep up the good work, keep your current employees. I would give you one thousand stars if I had that option.
Thanks a million times
We stopped at Tin City Saloon on main street to sit outside and have a beer. Looking kitty-corner was a restaurant “Alpine Inn”, ….. outdoor seating, and great reviews on Google. We walked over and were able to sit outside on the patio and have lunch (2:30 pm). Great service. Great food. So happy!!!! Husband had the schnitzel with sauerkraut, red cabbage and spaetzel. I had the Havarti, bacon, apricot jam grilled sandwich. AMAZING! Definitely recommend!!
The best dinner deal in town. The inn is historic and quaint. The atmosphere is perfect. Dinner was amazing. There are two dinner choices on the menu. We had delicious bacon wrapped filet mignon , with wedge salad with homemade dressing and a baked potato with butter sour cream and chives ( you put it on yourself) and Texas toast. Everything was great. Prices were $15.95 and $17.95 depending on fillet size ordered. Wines were delicious and about $7 -10 a glass. Dessert menu was 3 pages and great and varied choices. Go early and enjoy their front porch or inside lounge before dinner. Both a very nice. Go early as they do get busy and no reservations. We went at 5:00 and had no waiting, great place. We will be back one day.
We did not actually get the opportunity to eat here, but want to pass on our experience to help others. This restaurant was recommended by the visitor’s center staff in Rapid City, so we picked up a brochure with serving times listed. We arrived 4:45 pm, 15” prior to their dinner service & were told that everything was full until at least 6 pm!! Unknown to us is that you need to arrive before 4 pm to get a pager to get service at 5 pm! Needless to say, we left & gave our business elsewhere.
The wait was 1’15” but the town has lots to look at during the wait. The food was great tasting and the waitress was very nice. The only issue we had was having to pay in cash. We had a 3 course meal so, we didn’t that much cash in hand. No problem as the cashier pointed us to the private ATM. Good mood gone.
