Best WLM Reviews
I have mixed feelings about this place. It may be because it's different from the old Alpha (which I loved), or the fact that it seems to have an identity crisis. The menu ranges from smoked meats to Italian dishes, and some other odd ball items. Prices seem high for what you get ($16 for a grilled cheese and fries?). The Pepperoni rolls were really good though.
Tried them for the first time recently. Their wings were delicious. I'm not a wing connoisseur by any means but I'll definitely be going back for more. Atmosphere was great and staff was attentive. Nothing but good things to say about my experience there.
I used to go here all the time before the update and I loved it. A little upset that it is a non-smoking bar entirely now but it is super nice inside and the cocktails are so good. The caramel apple slushy is immaculate, as well as the sunrise margarita. If you have a chance to hit a steak night I would heavily recommend it a twelve dollar new york strip with two sides is a really good deal and it's actually a fantastic steak.
We’ve heard a lot about Alpha, primarily their insanely cheap wing night. So we decided to drive an hour to find out. We’ll start with the best parts. The waitress, Joclyn, was among the best we’ve ever had. Bright and delightful. Interactive, but not excessively. She gets 5 stars and is one of the reasons they received as high as they did. Thank you ????. We all had a side salad which was extra special. Loaded with mixed greens, olives, tomatoes, cheese and so on. Really good. My wife and her sister both had a Philly cheesesteak wrap. Both wraps were loaded nicely with cheesesteak, peppers and onions. Each of them commented on how good the sandwiches were and said they would definitely recommend them. The restaurant itself was very clean and inviting. Well decorated and lit. The restrooms were clean as well. Now for the bad part; the wings were beyond dry. About half of the portions I had gotten were obviously reheats from, I’m guessing, the night before. I had received mostly drumette portions with only one wingette portion. The wingette portion was over cooked to the point it was inedible. Half of the drumettes were so dry even the sauce couldn’t bring them back to life. The sauce was tasty enough with just the right amount of heat. My brother-in-law had the same experience. The only exception was his contained mostly wingettes and very few drumettes. The ones on top of the dish were properly cooked, but burried beneath were dry inedible wing pieces. Before you ask, no I did not let our server know. I am not a fan of sending food back to the kitchen. Maybe I have trust issues. I will send steak back. I figure the heat can kill whatever. I have seen this before when a restaurant tries to stretch out the previous nights left overs. Which is fine for chili and spaghetti, but destroys wings and ribs. I suggest if you go here, go a little later. Give them a chance to get through the old wings.
This place is a hidden gem in WV. The staff and owner by far is one of the best combos around! But the food... oh the delicious food!! Served fast and hot! It is by far, absolutely AHHHHMAZING! Our cute as Christmas waitress hustled all night-never forgot a thing. It was st Patrick’s day weekend and even though they were busy- we didn’t wait and weren’t felt to eat fast and leave. Super acclimating to our group-thank you!!! You won’t get any meal like this anywhere else! I dare you to try!
This place is awesome we came here from out of town to meet a friend who lives in the area. everything we had was delicious and the service was great. sat outside on the super cozy patio at night. the Greek philly with steak, lemoncello chicken and steak were OUTSTANDING. also the side salads are worth mentioning, full of things you don't often see in side salads. i don't know what all the complaints and negative reviews are about but we all had amazing dinners and the KY mules were perfect. thanks Alpha!
One of my favorite spots in Wheeling! Great food and great service! Can't recommend the wings enough, they are absolutely incredible! Great spot to stop for a drink and a bite to eat!
“RIP ALPHA”
Have to love when you walk in and bartender, waves her arms around, pointed at us and yells to her one patron, “SEE WHAT I MEAN?!! EVERY TIME!!”. Thus prompting us to ask if they are closed which she responds “no, 11, (clock reads 10:20), but I guess you could have a beer“ to which we said thanks but no thanks . Never have I felt so unwanted and disrespected. They need to clean house and start over, nothing but rudeness 24/7. Only so many chances I can give the place even though it’s down the street from my house. RIP ALPHA.
