I booked a room for a late work night. I knew my check in was most likely going to be after 11 PM so I wrote that into my reservation. Put my debit information in and everything seemed fine.
I arrive at the hotel around midnight and am immediately yelled at by the male attendant about being too late to check in. He continues his tirade for a few minutes, mind you I’m outside after midnight and he’s just going!! After a while he asks for my ID and credit card. The card I put on their site which I assumed booked it was my debit so I hand him that card. He very rudely informs me they don’t use debit cards. Since I was able to book the room using it, I assume the debit card was fine but no this location is credit card only. Would love for that to be plastered on their site but sure whatever.
In the end, he cancelled the room and from the cancel email it looks like I’ll be getting a charge. I’m extremely happy I was with a caring coworker or this night would’ve only gotten worse. I’ve never felt so disrespected in my life
If you have an option, avoid this location. I absolutely will.
Staff was super friendly and nice! Room was just fine, wasn’t planning to be in it a lot but was great when we were. It’s an older building and obviously is in need of a little love which it looked like it was in the process of. The one and ONLY complaint is the faucets: they have no chill factor! It’s either ice cold or scolding hot.
I like staying near the Marina District area and this was perfect. Good restaurants ('Napizza) and a nice walk to the bay. BIG room for the price, nicely furnished w basics and the beds were very comfortable. Parking is tight but it works!
I saw a few bad reviews but I figured we won't be in the room much. We were greeted by a very nice woman and check-in was easy. The room was clean and neat and the bathroom was also nice. Parking is a bit tight but we made it work.
The staff guy was an absolute joke. We arrived late in the evening (mind you it is freezing cold outside) and the manager refused to check us in because he needed an International passport. We had driver’s license, ID, all the credit cards on the booked name but he insisted on having the passport shown which we did not have with us at the moment (and never ever ever ever had such an issue with checking in while travelling inside US - otherwise it would have been written on the booking notes and comments, no?)
So we stood there for, like, 20 minutes begging him to let us in, but he just closed the window and went to watch his football game on the TV ???? Also, we could not cancel the booking, because the money was already charged… thankfully, we got in touch with one of the customer support fellas, who helped us to cancel the booking and we instantly went to look for another place to stay for the night - didn’t even want to waste my time and nerves trying to talk to the manager again (he was reaaaaaally upset that we disturbed him during his football game…)
Excellent location! Close to everything we love! Great staff! I am excited to return very soon! I will always book Alpha Inn for San Francisco!
Only bad thing we have is the parking lot is very small but the room was very spacious and very clean. The front desk lady was super nice and check in was a breeze.
Okay but our first room was out to the street quite noisy, the room was big and with more facilities but the shower didn’t work so only used the bathtub, but good transportation to downtown with public transport but also good shopping and restaurants nearby to
