Best WLM Reviews

Great cocktails, friendly attentive staff, delicious food, and a view that is just lovely! Try the ice cream cake, YUM! Want a peaceful relaxing meal? This is the place.
The variety of local foods were interesting and good when we got our order. The servers were friendly and made the experience even better. We would definitely return. The atmosphere was terrific. Ocean side dining and the tropical surroundings added to the experience.
The review really pains me to write. It's like writing a eulogy to a beloved old friend, because i doubt we will come back. If you read my reviews, you will notice that while i don't give everyone 5 stars, i do take care in reviewing small local businesses to make sure I'm fair.
We've been visiting Maui got many years and the original Aloha Mixed Plate in Lahaina's Front Street was our favorite place to get a taste of local dishes, enjoyed their hospitality and Aloha spirit, in a very relaxed and unassuming setting. No muss no fuss.
Then it became Star Noodles. Not quite the same vibe. Impossible to get in. We mourned the loss of the old joint.
After the devastating fire, we saw that Aloha Mixed Plate had returned and i quickly made a reservation to visit our old friend.
Let's just say, it's not the same place. A much more limited menu. Ok, i understand. Much higher prices, sure, same everywhere, unavoidable. Then came the most unfriendly wait staff, if that's even a possibility in Hawaii at all. He walked up to our table and said are you ready to order. We asked about fish of the day. "Mongchong" was his one word answer. I stared at him blankly for a few seconds waiting for him to elaborate but nothing came. So i said I'm not familiar with that fish. "White fish" two words this time.
Then i asked if i can get the fried chicken in full adult size not kiki size (i was careful to explain I'm not trying to cheat by ordering a kiki plate) and obviously they make fried chicken in the kitchen can they not charge me more for an adult plate even though it's not on the menu? "no" another one word answer. At that point i gave up and ordered the kalua pork plate.
After 30 minutes this same gentleman did not bring us water (i had a Blue Hawaii from the bar but my hubby had nothing) but stopped at our table to ask for our order again. We said we already ordered, but can we get some water? He said "Oh" and left. It wasn't until another staff who seems to be a Front of House manager type stopped by and we asked again for water that we got some.
Another staff brought us our food, while we observed other tables nearby also struggled with same lack of service. By that point we lost our appetite and ready to leave. Had to wait another half an hour to find the guy so we could pay.
An hour and a half for 2 plate dinners that we could get for a fraction of price at L&L that taste better and much warmer welcome.
It broke my heart. But our beloved AMP was gone. This new incarnation may have the same name but not the same heart.
Stopped here on a whim because we were hungry. So very glad we did! The food here at Aloha Mixed Plate was amazing! And a lot for the price. The drinks were fantastic too. I think I had my best Mai Tai here. You’re also right on the water with the best sunset view, possibly on the island. The staff were great as well. Overall, probably a highlight meal on our trip.
This is by far the best restaurant on the west side of Maui if not one of the best restaurants on the island. The food is delicious that we went back twice. We had both dinner and brunch here. Our favorite is the Aloha Mixed Plate which consists of Fish, beef and pork with rice and macaroni sprinkled with green onions. The beef is their teriyaki beef that is well seasoned and not too salty. Fish is grilled and comes with tater sauce. We also had poke bowel which is solid full of different slices of raw sashimi with vinegar white rice. We also had their ice cream pie with macadamia nuts sprinkled on top. This restaurant has the best bang for your buck. The portions are huge and as you will see from our pictures the views are spectacular. You get the see sail board and a great sunset if you come in the evening. I highly recommend you make reservations and stop by. This is a way better choice than eating at the whaler mall. And the parking is free!
The food was delicious. You have to order the coconut shrimp!
The dessert was divine! We went early to beat the crowd so there was no sunset but the view of the beach was still pretty. The servers were exceptionally nice and food came out quick!
This was our last stop on our epic vacation to Maui and it did not disappoint. This open air restaurant on Front Street is a gem. We fell in love with the island flavors and the ocean views. We got the Kalbi plate, coconut shrimp and the Chow Fun noodles. So good! Portions are large, so be prepared to take some home.
Great experience for dinner on a Sunday evening - joined waitlist via opentable and didn’t wait too long for a table for 3. Very friendly service. Glad to see them open and busy as we had visited years ago and really enjoyed their dishes. We shared the green salad and ate it quickly as the papaya dressing was quite yummy. I had the Kalbi and the others had the Shoyu chicken sandwich and the aloha mixed plate. The Kalbi was really tender and had a nice char to it - deep flavor but not too overpowering. Shoyu chicken was tasty and we usually use a baseline of the one from the closed Kaka'ako kitchen on Oahu. If I had to nitpick on one thing it’ll be that the furikake fries could’ve had a bit more garlic and furikake seaweed seasoning but other than that, we enjoyed our meal and the beautiful Maui sunset! Would always return when we are fortunate to come back!
