The room layout was a little strange. The coffee bar was cold and empty once. They have grab and go food that you pay for. Overall the location was good. It was about a mile walk down the sidewalk to destiny mall. The parking lot is across the street. Newer trendy type of hotel. The harbor walk was pretty cool.
Review of Aloft Inner Harbor, Syracuse, NY:
My recent stay at Aloft Inner Harbor in Syracuse, NY was marred by a disappointing first impression. The hotel’s landscaping, in dire need of upkeep, set the tone for a less-than-ideal experience that persisted throughout my stay.
The most striking issue was the lack of room cleaning service. We left our room around 10 a.m. each day to explore Syracuse, about two hours before the standard checkout time. Despite this, our room was never cleaned or freshened up. We repeatedly asked the front desk for housekeeping services, but our requests were ignored entirely. We even spoke directly to the cleaning staff, which led nowhere. It was unacceptable to constantly go to the front desk to request fresh towels and clean up our room. I WAS TRULY NOT IMPRESSED.
The situation didn’t improve in the mornings. The coffee and hot water in the lobby were always lukewarm, and I often had to heat them myself in a microwave that looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in ages. At one point, I put a cup of water in the microwave to heat up, and a piece of something fell into the water—disgusting. Even worse, fruit flies engulfed the entire breakfast area, making it nearly impossible to enjoy food or drink. I mentioned this to the front desk staff, but nothing changed. They just looked at me as if I was wasting their time.
Our frustration was compounded when we were misled about the shuttle service. We were initially told that a shuttle was available to take us to CNY, only to be informed upon arrival that it no longer provided this service and was now exclusively for airline aircrews. Despite the existence of open shuttle times, the front desk personnel made no effort to find a solution or offer alternative options. This left us with no choice but to incur the unexpected and inconvenient expense of renting a car for our stay.
Overall, this hotel fell short of what Marriott should be. My stay at Aloft Inner Harbor was far below my expectations, and I would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and clean experience.
Always stop by this property when headed East or West on the I-90. Makes for a nice break on a long journey. If you’ve seen one Aloft, you’ve pretty much seen them all. However, properties are defined by those that work at them and this one consistently delivers friendly and hospitable service. ||Always happy to welcome guests into a clean and quiet room for their stay, the Aloft Syracuse consistently exceeds expectations. As an aside, DryBar products in Aloft stand above the quality of product found in “high tier” Marriott brands!||Morning breakfast offerings are standard Aloft fare, however the generosity of extras extended to Bonvoy Members is appreciated. Spin the wheel upon check in and breakfast could be covered for your stay- a nice extra. ||If visiting Syracuse or just passing through, this Aloft property will not disappoint.
Terrible customer service!
I called to cancel my reservation 36 hours in advance due to a winter storm that hindered my travel. I added a co-worker to the reservation so they could use the room and was assured my credit card would only “hold” the room, but yet they charged both of us! Bonvoy was no help and the accounting office does not answer the line.
Good spot. Very clean and new. Rooms are small but efficiently laid out and comfortable. Limited food and drinks. Have breakfast with limited selections, but all options are good.
Parking is on street or in lot across the street. Hotel is very close to the mall.
Checkin was not the most professional nor was Checkout. Friendliness , hospitality , welcoming didn't come to mind . The room was sooo small. The price we paid was crazy . Save your money . The parking was across road and very inconvenient. Pool very small. Not sure how the price is so high. Just checked in to another hotel and the price was great and the room spacious and they welcomed us!
This is a great hotel located near DestinyUSA, one of the biggest malls in the state. It’s good for a quick overnight stay or possibly a night of romance. Comfortable beds, modern design, friendly staff. It’s right by Syracuse inner harbor where there are tons of events held throughout the summer! It’s a great choice for a nice getaway!
The staff at this hotel were really great. Every person we dealt with was super friendly and helpful. My kids loved the pool. Room was clean and modern. Gym was clean and well-equipped. Only complaint was the surrounding area isn’t that nice but that doesn’t take away from the fact that we loved this hotel!
