Best WLM Reviews
I stayed several days at the Aloft St. Louis Cortex for work. The location is fine if you’re needing to be near the Cortex, but there isn’t a ton nearby otherwise both in terms of sightseeing or restaurants, thankfully the MetroLink station is pretty close. The hotel tries to have a bit of a funky/retro vibe and as they name suggests, the rooms are all loft style, which I’ll admit – I don’t love. ||Walking into the room immediately next to the door is your safe, shelves and hangers. Past that is the bathroom which is open with the exception of the toilet which has a sliding door. On the other side of the sink/mirror divider was the king size bed. The bed was fairly comfortable and nice. There’s a large TV mounted to the wall, unfortunately after the first day the cable was out for the rest of the stay! I heard they were working with the cable company to figure it out, but it didn’t get fixed during my visit. Each nightstand had ample plugs for charging and the one with the drawer had a cute reminder not to forget your stuff. There’s a little seating area with a small table, not much space but enough for your laptop. When you pull down the shades on the big window there are numbers, not sure if there’s any meaning to it. ||The bathroom area had a good amount of space around the sink for your stuff. There’s a nice rope light around the mirror and at least in my room’s configuration I learned that if you’re trying to take a relaxing shower before bed, you can turn off all the lights except for the one around the mirror and it creates a calming warm light for an evening shower. The shower itself was fine with enough room although I would have preferred an upgraded showerhead/wand combo. My issue with this being a loft setup is that the shower is in the same room as the bed, so if you have a steamy shower, it makes the whole place warm & steamy – not great when it’s hot outside. The only separate room was where the toilet is, just a small space with a hook there was well and some retro cassette tape wallpaper in there. ||There’s a gym that was fine, the times I used the gym there wasn’t ever more than one other person in it, so it worked out. There’s a bar on the upper level which I looked at but didn’t try out. The staff I interacted with were all nice.
Nice room with two beds. Interesting, modernistic decor in room and everywhere. Halls were grey large open area on second floor with an inside and outside bar. Huge lobby. Board games and tv’s in lobby. Parking is in garage over a block away, but they did allow us to put luggage in room before moved car. Mexican restaurant next door, rather upscale and not open Sunday. Tram to stadiums and downtown a block away in a safe neighborhood.
Quite honestly, the reviews scared me at first but this hotel is great. convroom was comfortable, the bar and open spaces were convenient, and the staff were friendly. From what I can tell, the negative reviews are mostly families or people who expect more hands on service. This is more a business or professional hotel with good proximity to a lot of fun things to do as well. I would definitely stay here again.
I am staying at this hotel for a business trip and had a very disappointing and sleepless experience. My room is on the 2nd floor, and at almost 1am, a large group of guests was still hanging out in the hallway, talking and laughing loudly, slamming doors repeatedly, and even playing pool. This has been going on for hours.
I called the front desk the first time, and the female staff member addressed it by asking the group to be quiet. Unfortunately, the noise continued. On my second call, I spoke with a male staff member who dismissed the situation, saying they are a large group with several rooms and “probably saying their good nights" and asked me to give it 10 minutes. The noise persisted, and when I called again, the same staff member told me the hotel is a "24-hour facility" and that guests are free to move around and play pool right outside the room/hallway door 24 hours a day. When I asked about quiet hours, he said the hotel doesn’t have any and offered to inconvenience me by moving my room at 1am instead of addressing inconsiderate guests.
My coworker, who was in the room next to me, had already switched rooms earlier this morning due to the same issue. This is not the experience I expect, especially during a business stay. If your hotel caters to large groups, better noise management and guest consideration should be a priority. I’ll be sharing this feedback with my company to reconsider future stays here.
I've stayed here for more than 25 nights this year, and I like it. There are both pros and cons to this hotel:
Pros: good pricing, location, and service. Amenities like the gym and swimming pool, microwave in the common area are a plus. Some good restaurants nearby.
Cons: ventilation isn't great especially at night, breakfast is very basic, but ok for the price, no parking on the property but there's public parking nearby.
Ok good rooms. Workers are nice. Breakfast sucks. Also be careful we’ve come to this place 4 months in a row for 1 week. Great views and great atmosphere. Pool, Gym, and Bar with billiards. Near a lot of attractions. Only thing, they charged 2 people in our party l twice by accident. They will charge you “incidental fee” and when you check out they charge you for your rooms. (My job paid for our rooms, anyways you get refunded but being charged 400-700 isn’t fair because someone wasn’t paying attention to their job and seeing that it was already paid for. So for these big oops I’m gonna have to give it 2 stars.
My overall experience was amazing! The rooms were clean, the location was great, and the staff were very pleasant! Especially Zulija at the front desk, she was very warm and welcoming! I’ll definitely be back!
Everything would’ve been a lot better if you didn’t have to park and then get a shuttle from the parking garage that you’re paying $20 a day to park in just to get back-and-forth from the hotel. Just seems like a huge inconvenience and bad planning on the hotels part. If I didn’t have a car, I would say overall it was a pretty OK stay. I’ve come to expect a little nicer from aloft.
