Best WLM Reviews
This is a below average hotel. Don’t be fooled by the Marriot name. The first and second floor is for animals. The entryway is very small and smells of heavy aerosol to get rid of animal smell. Has parking. This hotel is in the middle of many nightclubs, so if you want to stay up till 2:00 with music playing, stay here. If you want to sleep at 11:00 pm forget it… heavy bass techno music pounding away. It might be coming from a place called Pussy Pole dancing. Who knows! The Bed was lumpy and there is no fridge. The coffee maker didn’t have an outlet so I put it in the bathroom. The air conditioning is an old school conditioner in your room that makes lots of noise. One lamp. Very old building where they just plopped paint up and redid hardware from home depot. This room is worth 80.00. It’s a tad better than motel 6. Marriott really? , do better! Aloft. Is worse than a loft!
I will just reiterate what others have said on here, if you are expecting to stay at a hotel and get a pleasant night of sleep, this is NOT the place to stay. They have a club on the second floor that is pumping music on Friday/Saturday until 2 AM and the people and car noise generated from that goes on all night. I wish I had read the reviews beforehand on that. Everything else is OK, the food is all microwave food so not really worth it. The amenities are meh, the hotel looks like it needs an update, they half cleaned my room. I would never stay here again for the price they charged.
Hotel really a great property! Friendly check in and the room was huge with double sinks in the bathroom and tremendous shower. One of the best rooms I have ever had in an Aloft branded hotel. The bar is also great with perfectly made drinks and nice light food. Hotel is in a great location too. I highly recommend and would return.
I expect much more from a Marriott brand. Location is great for walking old town Scottsdale, but that’s about all it’s got going for it.
Very sparse rooms, really poor lighting, thin walls. Just generally run down and furnished on a shoestring budget.
Not to mention the late-night and very loud thumping music from nearby bars.
Other reviews noted they offered ear plugs to anyone that complained - wow.
Unless you enjoy a cheap college dorm room - look elsewhere.
BE AWARE of the dis-respectful/unhelpful/inconsiderate general manager Luis G at this hotel and their deceptive business practices! My friend, her dog, and I stayed at Aloft Scottsdale for a weekend. We chose this hotel because it said it was "pet friendly".
Upon check-in, the front desk person should have made it very clearly known to me that I would be responsible for other guests' room charges if there was a disturbance from the pet that caused other guests to complain, but this was not stated to me upon check-in ... nor was it explicitly and clearly stated in their pet agreement policy that I signed.
The pet agreement policy did not explicitly and clearly state that I would be charged to cover the other guests' room charges for any “inconvenience” caused by pet issues. If that was clearly stated in the pet agreement, then we would have either not stayed at Aloft or would have not brought the dog, thus avoiding any pet issues altogether.
The pet agreement needs to explicitly and clearly state what constitutes "damages" caused by a pet, and clearly and explicitly state what the hotel guest is actually responsible for in regard to those “damages” in relation to having a pet in the room and disturbances/issues caused by the pet. The pet agreement did not clearly or explicitly state any of that, so how can a guest be held accountable for something that is vaguely defined and not explicitly and clearly stated. This is unfair because any hotel employee could make up a story about how a dog was disturbing the peace and causing “damages” in order to unfairly charge a guest more for their stay when their dog and the guest did not actually do anything wrong.
Upon checkout the next day (which means we were allowed to stay and not kicked out for pet disturbances), the front-desk person did not go over my final bill with me during check-out to go over the charges. I came to find out after I had left the hotel that I was charged additional expenses to cover the room costs of the guests that were inconvenienced by the pet barking.
I asked Luis (GM of Aloft Scottsdale) multiple times to provide audio/video recordings of the dog causing “damages” in order to prove and corroborate his employee's story of the dog causing a disturbance. I never received any evidence from Luis and Aloft/Marriott proving that the dog did in fact cause “damages” that warranted additional room charges being charged to my bill.
I provided evidence to show that the pet agreement never stated anywhere in the policy that I would have to pay for the other guests' room charges. I asked Luis to resolve this issue since Aloft/Marriott was clearly in the wrong in that I should have never been charged those additional costs. Luis would not help or even admit that their pet agreement policy was faulty and lacking in enforceability. I asked Luis to provide his supervisor's contact information so that I could escalate this issue. Luis never provided that information to me. I had to contact Marriott corporate to resolve this issue, and not even Marriott corporate was helpful in resolving the issue. Not only did Marriott corporate fail to respond to my emails after they said they would look into the matter and respond to me, but their Corporate Office of Consumer Affairs was not even willing to help escalate and resolve the matter.
Overall, Aloft Scottsdale and Marriott corporate were horrible in providing even base-level customer service to resolve this issue that I was completely in the right on and Aloft was completely in the wrong on. Terrible customer service from Luis and Marriott's Corporate Office of Consumer Affairs. They should be held accountable by the Better Business Bureau for their lack of customer service as well as deceptive business practices!
Room for second time different location, I know, why give them a second chance, smelled like strong chemicals with complaints to front desk and no solution or offer of remedy. You will get headaches staying here. Aloft is not a good representation of a Marriott brand.
2 security guys one weekend that were on duty there had provoked me and my friend and attempted to fight us. We are ladies, I couldn’t imagine staying here and thinking im safe.
I was told by Misty or Missy that I could book for Sunday and get an early check in approved. I was told to book it online to get the best rates, so I did. I booked the hotel and arrived at the early check in time I had asked for. I was then informed by the front desk person Darrius that I could not get an early check in and that I was unable to book a room at that time due to the system being in audit. As I walked out the door expressing that “I love people that can’t do their job”, he asked my name. I turned and informed him of my name and he began to argue with me. He mentioned he was informed that I would be arriving early but that there was nothing he could do. As the argument continued, I explained that I will be issuing a chargeback on the hotel for lying and “burn the place down online”. Darrius then told me that I was trespassing and began calling Scottsdale Police Department. Do not believe a word these people say and be careful if you have to have a conversation with them, they do not hesitate to steal your money and call the police on you
